Biking is not about what you have between your legs, its all about how well you use it!!!!!!!

Re: Going from Hyderabad to kanyakumari

hello.. I planned a similar ride.. never materialized.. hopefully it does this year..

just curious.. when are you planning to do this trip?? If it's this year winter (November-December) I might join as well (if you want me around :P )

      my plan was as below:

I'd suggest you first go to Chennai (night Stay), from there, via Pondi to to Rameshwaram, night stay at Rameshwaram, from Rameshwaram, go to Madurai, night stay at Kanyakumari, morning finish up Kanyakumari, go to Palani, from there go to Mysuru, Banglore and hyderabad.

I think that you might be travelling about 2500-2700 KMs overall with that plan, not sure what bikes you have, but try not to cover anything more than 300 KMs in 1 day.. (exceptions are there like the first & last legs like hyd to chennai & hyd to blr) and take sufficient rest after the first long distance rides..

I'm not sure where Kolli hills are. so the places you might want to keep an eye on :

      - Madurai

the following three are near chennai:
      - Mahabalipuram
      - Vellore (I think it's near Tirupati, but on the way to Chennai I guess)
      - Kanchipuram

This can be incorporated while returning from Blr:
      - Palani
      - Mysuru

The following three are close by:

      - Big Temple (Tanjore)
      - Chidambaram
      - Trichy

but they're all temples and all..

if you want, you got Horsley Hills, Ooty & Kodaikanal..

That's all I can think of.. atleast the entries that are there in my bucket to visit on a motorcycle..

what you can do is, keep Chennai as a point of halt, do one or two place(s) per day that are close to Chennai (Vellore, Mahabalipuram, Kanchi & Pondi), 3 days before the last day go to Rameshwaram, stay, Kanyakumari, Stay - Madurai - Chennai Stay, Chennai to Hyd.. that should be relaxed..
