I had visited Tawang with a couple of my friends in April 2016. You need another permit to visit Bum La, which you can get from Tawang.
Also, the road to Bum La might be closed due to rough weather, so plan accordingly.
We foolishly decided to go from Bhalukpong to Tawang in a day. It took us 16 hours.
Dirang and Bomdilla are the only towns that appear in the entire route. The road after Bomdilla was really bad.
Most of it was under construction, so it might be better now but I doubt.
I would recommend you travel till Dirang on Day 4 so that you reach Tawang comfortably the next day.

The route is deserted and it gets really dark after sunset. At 6 pm it is pitch black, so start your journey as soon as possible (not later than 6 am).
Did not visit Zemithang but I had heard the road is in a bad condition and it is not easy to get accommodation, so pre book if possible.

If your buffer day is unutilized, you can consider visiting Kaziranga to see the rhinoceros.
If you don't look back when you park and walk away, you bought the wrong bike.
