I am new to this forum and Bangalore. All the related threads are of 2014 or 2015, couldn't find anything latest. We are planning a bike trip to Coorg from 25th-27th August. Please help in selecting the correct route and also if someone have recently, please comment on the road conditions, considering this to be a monsoon season. Also let me know what would be the best way to plan our days so that we almost cover everything in Coorg. We are planning to depart from Bangalore on 25th, 4:00 A.M. and return by Sunday evening.

Re: planning bike trip from Bangalore to Coorg
Hi,
There are two routes from bangalore to mysore.
First is the usual route is mandya to mysore and second is via kanakpura to mysore.
The first route is quicker if you are starting at 4am and will be ahead of most of the weekend traffic on bangalore - mysore highway.
Second route via kanakpura is the more fun to ride but slightly longer route.
Once you reach mysore the road to madikeri (coorg) is the same.
Road condition is good. The road after mysore is very nice for biking.
You can stop at mysore for breakfast and then ride on.1985 yezdi cl2 -sold

Hi eyedocsri, thank you for the tip. Thinking of taking the Kanakpura road, never mind if slightly longer but as it would be more fun to ride, will be taking that.Originally posted by eyedocsri View PostHi,

Re: planning bike trip from Bangalore to Coorg
If I was you then I would prefer Bangalore - Mandya - Srirangapatna - Hunsur - Gonikoppa - Virajpet route . Why waste time by taking Kanakapura route ? Coorg has many such scenic routea and places so better reach Coorg and try to cover as many places possible.

Re: planning bike trip from Bangalore to Coorg
I would suggest the Mandya - Srirangapatna - Ilvala - Hunsur route since you are starting early you would skip the BLR - Mysore traffic. Depending on were you are put up after Hunsur , take Hunsur - Periyapatna - Kushalnagar - Madikeri route if you are staying around Madikeri (north Coorg) or take the Hunsur - Gonikoppa - Virajpet route if you are staying around Virajpet (south coorg) .Originally posted by sumo_rides View PostHi eyedocsri, thank you for the tip. Re: planning bike trip from Bangalore to Coorg
Did a solo ride from Bangalore to Madikeri on 18th Feb 2018.
Route : Bangalore-Nelamangala-Kunigal-Channarayapattana-holanarasipur-arakalagud-ramanathapura-somwarpet-Madikeri.
Road condition: good to excellent. I took via somwarpet because wanted to try internal routes. Ramanthapura-Kushalnagar Madikeri is better.
Time taken: 4.5 hours on my dominar.
Return route: Madikeri-kushalnagar-ramanathapura-arakalagud-holanarasipur-CR Pattna-Nelamangala-Bangalore.
Time taken: 5 hours, started at 9 am from madikeri.
This route is WAY Better than Mysore route because it has very less traffic and some excellent roads.
