I'm planning a solo road trip from Bangalore to a small village on the way to Mangalore (this is the exact location) in January. The plan is, I leave from Bangalore early 26th morning, and reach this place by late afternoon (although Maps claims it's 6 hours away, I'm assuming it will take me at least 2 hours more due to the bad road) then leave from there early 29th morning and reach Bangalore by evening.
Questions -
1. Which route to take? Ghat roads are fine so long as I don't have to constantly fear for my life due to bad road + rash drivers combo.
2. I've heard that the road will kill me if the other vehicles don't. How bad is the road? On a scale of 1-10, 1 being race track and 10 being dirt track.
3. How bad is the traffic? On a scale of 1-10, 1 being a backroad after midnight and 10 being Silk Board at rush hour.
Points to bear in mind:
1. I have to be back in office on the 30th. Hence planning to be in Bangalore before sunset of 29th.
2. I don't have much prior experience with long distance - my solo riding experience consists of one 330 km run from Bangalore to a village beyond Tirupati and one 290 km ride from Bangalore to Bharachukki and back, via Talakad.
3. Although I'm not much of a shutterbug, if there are any specific scenic places which are good for taking photos, please include them in the route. As long as the total distance is within 400 km, I'm willing to take small deviations here and there.
I would like to maintain a pace of at least 80 kmph on the tarmac, and around 30-40 kmph on the ghat section (of course, depending on the traffic/road conditions.) Is this feasible? If yes, how long would I take to cover the distance?
Please do add your valuable comments and advice. I'm really looking forward to this trip. (A travelogue will follow when this trip happens.) Thanks!

). Also if there are more time needs to be spent or there are more spots to see in the ghats itself, I can omit visiting mangalore and beach. Also please suggest if it is safe to ride on bike through shiradi ghat through night in bike.
