    Delhi to Spiti Valley Motorbike Road Trip

    Hi All,

    I am planning a trip from Deli to Spiti Valley.

    Following is the itinerary. I am planning this with my wife. We will be riding a rented Royal Enfield(Either classic or Thunderbird 350) from Delhi. I need your valuable inputs on the following.

    1. Details Good Bike rentals in Delhi
    2. Details of stay throughout the trip. Hotels, homestays, camps at chandratal, etc.
    3. ATM
    4. Gas Station
    5. Medical Facilities
    6. Hotels for food

    Day 0 15/06/2018 Bangalore to Delhi flight
    Get the rented bike and leave for Shimla
    Day 1 16/06/2018 05:00 Delhi - Shimla Start the journey early in the morning 350
    16:00 Reach Shimla
    Visit toy train
    Go to mall road
    Over night stay at Shimla
    Day 2 17/06/2018 06:00 Shimla - Kalpa Start the journey early in the morning 245
    08:00 Reach Narkanda. Fill petrol Nice sceneries 65
    Reach Kalpa Kuttography
    Day 3 18/06/2018 06:00 Kalpa - Nako - Gue Village - Tabo Start the journey early in the morning 187
    Fill petrol last petrol pump. carry as needed. There is no petrol station after Kalpa for 250 Km
    Reach Nako Have Lunch. Sightseeing Nako - Village, Helipad and Lake 100
    After Nako leave for Gue Village.
    After 50-60Kms there is a right turn which leads to Gue Village
    Reach Gue Village Visit 500 Old Mummmy 60
    Leave for Tabo
    Over night stay at Tabo Hotels and Homestays 10-15
    Day 4 19/06/2018 06:00 Tabo - Dhankar - Kibber - Ki - Gette - Tashigang - Kaza Start the journey early in the morning 100
    Reach Kaza
    Have Lunch and get a room. Leave luggage in the room. Visit Kaza monastery
    Leave for Ki and Kibber While returning visit Gette and Tashigang if not tired
    Overnight stay at Kaza
    Day 5 20/06/2018 06:00 Kaza - Hikkim - Komik - Langza - Kaza Start the journey early in the morning 60
    Leave from Kaza to Komik Via Hikkim Komik is one of the highest villages in the world
    Leave for Langza Visit the big Budha Statue
    Return to Kaza
    Visit local market or Rest
    Stay at Kaza
    Day 6 21/06/2018 06:00 Kaza - Losar - Kunzum - Chandratal Start the journey early in the morning 90
    Leave from Kaza to Losar 60
    Pass the Kunzum La to reach Chandratal
    Get a tent to stay overnight 3 Kms trek to Chandratal 2-3

    I haven't inspected very closely, but it seems ok to me. The Manali-Chandigarh might get tiring, because the distance is a bigger one, but also because of hilly areas and a curvy route.
    See if you can leave Manali at 4AM.. Since its summers, this should not be a big problem.


    Try to get a rented bike which has additional aux lights and hard luggage carriers.. Ride it out for some time in Delhi itself before setting off for the journey.
    Keep the regular things in mind, i.e. inform family members of your stays, etc.

      Plan seems OK to me but On day 7 you will need to start early in the morning as road conditions are very bad, I just returned from there and Kaza to Chatru(+13kms more) is a very very bad road, you will take 8-10 hrs to cover it. Also last petrol pump is at Kaza, it shuts down at 8PM, get the tank full. For accommodation I would advise you to take 'Hotel Khansgar' at Kaza, right hand side just after petrol pump, decent rooms and reasonable price. After Chandratal, oblyaccommodation available is Tent which would be around 300-350/night. There is no electricity or signal there, not even BSNL.
      KAZA to Rohtang La is a tougher route than Ladakh itself.
      Also carry spares like clutch and accelerator cable, pump, puncture repair kits, spark plugs, engine oil, etc.
