If its one day and inside kerala then.....

Take Athirapally water falls route. Its a road a biker in Kerala shouldnt miss.

Perfect tarmac with perfect sign boards. lots of twist and turns where you can test the handling of your bike to the edge. Not much traffic and you can hit 3 digit speed quiet easily. Since the route is through forest area not much heat even in noon time. on the way you will meet lot of bikers too.

it will be hardly 100km from cochin. you have to turn from chalakudy town and from there dream road starts. dont forget to carry safety gears as it is a bike accident prone area.

Now you are looking for an adventure dont stop at athirapally water falls just ride on for another 50km towards pollachi.

Its pure dense forest till kerala border town malakkapara. thats 50 km from athirapally water falls. Roads are too narrow with virtually no tarmac. no cell phone range and you will see hardly 10 vehicles opposite you in the entire 50 km and no gas station.

The best part is that there is 100% guarantee that you will get to see wild elephants on the road. he he he.... but dont worry they wont attack you unless you provoke them. I have taken that route many times.

they wont allow bikes entering that area after 6 ok. :-) you can easily go and come back if you start early :-)

Ya Rish's plan is perfect. As he said the route should be experienced by every biker. I am from pollachi and on last Saturday me and ananth went to athirapalli falls thru vaalparai - sholayaar dam - athirapalli falls. The route is awesome, coz of recent rains its green everywhere and dense. We can experience all kinds of roads in this route off-roading, twisties, bad roads, everything.

For a 5 day kerala-karnataka trip i suggest you to take Cochin- kozhikode- wayanad- gundulpet- mysore- coorg- mysore- bangalore- mysore- gudalur- ooty- coimbatore- cochin route.

Cochin- kozhikode route is a normal highway with not much excitement. Kozhikode - kalpetta( Waynad) is pretty cool with famous thamarasherry churam. Kalpetta- gundulpet route will be rocking as you will be riding through waynad wildlife reserve and then bandipur national park. Mysore got enough activity for one full day with all the historic attractions.

Then head to coorg( madikeri) on the way do stop at tibetian monastry( little tibet). Coorg got lot of nice winding roads through pepper and coffee plantations. Stay in any of the homestays to make trip truely memorable. Coorg got lot of sight seeing options like Abi falls, Thalacavery and Nagarhole national park. You can go for jungle safari in the national park.

Mysore- bangalore highway is truely spectacular as you can test the top speed of your bike very often.

From bangalore head back to mysore and then take gudalur route to ooty. gudalur- ooty route is a true challenge with Steep climb, 36 hairpin bends and narrow road.

From ooty head back to cochin through coimbatore.
