Leh Ladakh in bike in Oct 2020
Hi, before I start I know that this ride is risky one at the time of this pandemic, but as the fate has created a unique situation for me, I find my self with time and some funds to make this ride happen. The thing is to ride from Mumbai to Ladakh it takes around 15-20 days. So, I request the members to help me if I can make this ride possible.Last edited by xBhp; 10-01-2020, 07:54 PM.Tags: None

1. Plan your route.Originally posted by THEMERCURIAL View PostHi, before I start I know that this ride is risky one at the time of this pandemic, but as the fate has created a unique situation for me, I find my self with time and some funds to make this ride happen. 2. Prepare bike.
3. Keep spare parts and learn how to replace them.
4. Carry required tools, chain lubricant, cleaner, bungee cords and WD40,
5. Learn to plug punctures in tubeless tyres ,
6. You will be wearing atleast two to three layers of clothes including thermal wear, so pack accordingly. Also, lower temperatures mean no sweating, but hygiene is very important.
7. Keep copies of vehicle documents in different bags.
8. Keep emergency cash stashed somewhere.
9. Have a Swiss knife or multi utility knife.
10. Have multiple small bottles for water storage as you can store them easily when in small sizes.
11. Carry Diamox incase you come down with AMS.
12. Get gumboots or waterproof shoes without laces and zips. Wearing a rain coat pant over it will stop water entering boots in crossings and also raises body temperature.
13. Carry ENO , incase you don't get food on time. Helps in reducing acidity.
14. Be nice to everyone and meet people all the way.
That's all for now.sigpic

I've been three times to Ladakh, once in Spiti, solo. So, if you allow.. @Avenger88 has given exact suggestions. I'd add just some..Originally posted by THEMERCURIAL View PostHi, before I start I know that this ride is risky one at the time of this pandemic, but as the fate has created a unique situation for me, I find my self with time and some funds to make this ride happen. At outset, take Shrinagar route, it'll help a long way to get acclimatized.
1. Carry extra clutch cable, spark plug, some Nut and Bolts. Make sure Nuts aren't usual but Lock-nuts. Vibrations on no road, off road, gravel will loosen regular nuts and you'll notice them only if something is fallen down.
2. Travel light as much as possible.
3. Mumbai Agra Grand Trunk Road to reach Delhi is a no-no.. After Indore it's just painstaking.. Try Rajasthan side (Still avoid Udaipur - Chittorgarh Highway)
4. Carry very small air pump, preferably B'Twin / Phantom pumps (these are air pumps for bicycle and can be operated by hands, less than a feet in length)
5. If you've 20 days To and Fro, see if you could add 3/4 days more. This way you'll be able to enjoy more in Ladakh as it might take 7/8 days for Mumbai to Shrinagar and back.
6. Diamox is to be consumed ONLY IF you feel digestion issues. It ONLY SLOWS DOWN YOUR DIGESTION PROCESS, SO YOUR BODY COULD USE OXYGEN FOR OTHER PHYSICAL MOVEMENTS. It's a bigger tablet, which you can divide in half if needed.
7. Revert if you need any suggestion on itinerary or anything in Ladakh. I think I know conditions of most of the roads.
