It started long way back & contains the history(unless you're interested in road developments), if you want a quick short information, just go through last 3 pages starting from page 8.

After going through all the replies and the link posted by aargee, I think following is the best route:

        Chennai-Chilakaluripet-Narasaraopet-Ipuru-Karempudi-Macherla-Nagarjuna_Sagar_Dam-Ibrahimpatnam-Hyd

Can you guys confirm the following things:
        1. How are roads post floods? I've going by Bike Apache
        2. Is there any tension on this way due to political reasons? My Bike is (Delhi) registration.
        3. I don't know telugu, so are there enough sign boards on the way? I know Hyd ppl know Hindi but what abt areas on the way? Will I face problem?

I am leaving this saturday morning.
        Regards
        Muks

Hi, am planning to ride from Hyderabad to Chennai next friday - 7th Dec and back to hyderabad on 10th.
am bit confused on which road to take
              1) hyd - vijaywada - ongole - nellore - chennai (aprox 100 km more but heard road condt. is good)
              2) hyd - miryalaguda - narasaropet - ongole - nellore - chennai

also thinking on a overnight stay at ongole or kavali ... can you guys please suggest on road conditions, aprox time, hotels...
              ll be riding a P150..

Both are bad routes; best option is Chennai - Kanchipuram - Vellore - Chittoor - Bangarupalayam - Palamneru - Madanapalli - Kadri - Ananthpur - Kurnool - Hyderabad. Though a bit longer, it's possible to complete the DRIVE even in a single day, no need for any accommodation.

thanks for the input Aargee.. I think more than half of this route is four lane but its 200+ kms to the trip ..
Thing is Ill be doing avg 80-90 speeds ( as my bike is 7yr old P150, dont want to trouble it) so i thought if i take the state highway atleast ill make time by reducing distance.. Plz advise

also my plan is to leave by friday noon (have to work in the morning ) and make it to chennai by Saturday 10 with overnight stay.. I dont want to ride night as this is my first solo and have done only a hand full number of trip so far....

Then leave by Saturday early morning by 2:00/3:00 AM, you can easily complete even the longest route by 13-14 hours, which means, you can reach your destination by 5:00/6:00 PM worst case.

BTW, if you think if your vehicle is not in top condition, DO NOT experiement
