  • [Help]: Inquiry:2 day trip around delhi

    Hi,

Have been looking for a place to go for a bike trip, 2 days, nearby delhi.

1 option was of Agra, but my friend advised to not to go, as he had some problems with the locals(on bike, with gf, come comments flew, followed by some punches)

Other option is of Almora, but still havent fixed on it.

So help me out guys, which destination would u prefer for a bike stroll with friends and gf.

    Query Moved and Approved.

For a two day trip, Almora would be really stretching it. You won't really be able to enjoy the beautiful place that Kumaon is, if you go to a place like Almora and have JUST two odd days in hand.

However, if your friend did have a few problems in Agra, that does not neccessarily mean, everyone has problems or issues while going to Agra with their respective girl-friend(s). So, there. However, if you ask me, I would personally suggest you ride to this place called Lansdowne, located in Uttarakhand, at around 260 odd kilometres from Delhi. It is the perfect destination to spend a nice, quiet, calm weekend and the place is beautiful too. The ride would be pretty easy, relaxed and very good.

Think about it, because as things stand now, neither Agra nor Almora would really be able to satisfy your needs of a GOOD, solid, but enjoyable and relaxed ride.
    :)

It's around 260 odd kilometres from Delhi. So, excluding the fuel expenses, it should not cost one more than 1200-1500 bucks in all. See, there are only a very few accommodation options available at Lansdowne. You can either stay at the KMVN (Kumaon Mandal Vikas Nigam) Tourist Rest House, who have different options for staying, e.g: family suite, cottage, etc. which costs anywhere between Rs.800 - Rs.1600 per night.

However, if you do not quite want to spend that much, then, you can go to Mayur Hotel, which is located at the Lansdowne main market, just besides the taxi stand and get a room there. Their rooms are decent, clean and will cost you anywhere between Rs.400 - Rs.800 a night. So, take your pick accordingly. If you ask me, personally, I have always chosen the KMVN TRH for lodging as it is located outside the normal hustle bustle of the main market. It is quiet, serene and the view from outside the windows of the rooms at KMVN is also better than that of the Mayur Hotel. Infact, the rooms at Mayur Hotels do not have ANY views so to speak.

Apart from the KMVN Tourist Rest House and the Mayur Hotel, there are a few other hotels in Lansdowne, but those are priced at the higher side.

Thanks Aryan. for your valueable advise. that really helps, i was about to put in this thread once i read Kens post 3-4 gateway from Delhi.. As I m in Software industry & dont get hoildays frequently thus we have weekend only in our hand... thus was thinking of a weekend trip with my GF with 3 options in mind
              1) Mathura Vrindavan (She is quite Dharmik)
              2) Agra (after reading Shaffysid comment, i gave a resist to go on this place alone)
              3) Lansdowne (is only option left after reading your advise)

@Shaffysid. dude if you are thinking a trip in next weekend 6-7 or 13-14.. PM me will plan together..

                You can also consider Chail.

@himanshumm: Lansdowne is great for a quite getaway. Apart from KMVN and Mayur, there is FairyDale Resort. The path to this hotel is a small 200m diversion from the main road. Its beautiful with small huts and a spectacular view of the sunset. Cost was 1.1k/night in 08' Dec. Also, network is a problem in Lansdowne. Atleast Idea and Vodafone don't work

I am doing good himanshu. Chail is not on the way to Lansdowne. It is in Himachal. Yes you are right, near Shimla. Some 30 kms before Shimla you get off the NH and take a bifurcation towards the right. Chail is another 30 kms from there. So basically it is the same distance as Shimla, from Delhi.
