  • Tyres for pulsar220

    Hi guys,

I own a pulsar 220 Sf model which has clocked around 35,000 kms. My bike's stock tyres are 90/90 in the front and 120/80 in the rear. The MRF zapper tyres were good and decent. But i am thinking of replacing it with better brand tyres such as Michelin or Pirelli. As i went through the internet i was confused not able to choose the size or the hard/soft components.

    my requirements are
    1. Regular city rides to office in the week days
    2. long drives in the weekends
    3. good grip in the dry and wet conditions
    4. availability in bangalore or chennai

please suggest me good tyres for both front and rear

    Thanks

    regards

    Prabhakar

other than stock tyres, you can try pirelli sports demon, they are better than the rest.

wanna go one more level up, you can try bridgestone battlax, though a bit difficult to get.

above suggestion considering no or very little off-road, since you have not mentioned it.

        haii frnds.
i need your help for changing my 220's tires .
Which tire gives more grip on our Indian roads? Safety is ultimate.
Pls giv suggestions on MRF, Pirelli & Michelin tyres. Must be readly available.
        My consideration is:
For Front- mrf nylogrip zapper s-100/80/17 (R15 V1's rear tire)
mrf nylogrip zapper fx-100/80/17 (fz's front tire)
mrf nylogrip zapper fy1-90/80/17 (R15 V2's front tire)
        pirelli sport demon-120/70/17

For Rear- mrf revz s-130/70/17 (R15 V2's rear tire)
        mrf zapper vyde-120/80/17
        pirelli sport demon-120/70/17 or 130

          Pirelli sport demon

i once owned a 220S and replaced my tires to pirelli! It fitted well and got better results than any other brands. I can recommend only Pirelli and Bridgestone. My rear tire size was 130x80x17 and front tire 100x80x17 (Pirelli Sport Demon). For battlax bridgestone since i shifted to 135cc, I am now using front and rear same size of 90x90x17. To 135 i have better grip and good cornering ride and most of all since my rear tire is 90x90x17 my bike runs lighter. Good for 135ls .

Any personal experience where Pirelli saved you on Wet road in comparison to MRF ?

On wet and from wet to dry road.
Man it skids badly if you're even a bit tilted.
Just go straight and you'll be fine, but then even a freaked out tyre can also work if you just ride straight.
                One have to take care.

If you're so much into getting Pirelli.
I was and now also selling my Pirelli both (Front & rear).
Never did burnout & skids (Like i use to do in MRF because Pirelli is soft compound + no puncture yet)
And the tyre is in 9/10 condition. Like new.

                let me know.

i guess you are an exception in a million!

you are absolutely wrong in what you mention.. firstly it is not tilted..its when you corner!

secondly you seem to be talking about mrf and wrongly mentioned pirelli

                    Oh man !
Cornering is a different thing and tilting if different.
Or you might be do corner even in Mahim roads or on the narrow Western Highway ?

I said tilt a bit when over taking a vehicle or something and by chance if the tyre is wet.
You'll feel a bit of skid, i.e., tyre slipping to right / left, depending on bike position.
Pirelli might help when Warm but than there's no way to warm it while standing (Like tyre warmer) neither by riding it.

MRF is more trust-worthy in the same condition I mentioned above.

You might have done more kilometer's than me or riding experience
But I'm saying this after more than 60,000km of Pulsar 220 riding.

And the guy inquiring above, even have the same, 220.

                      Re: Tyres for pulsar220

Everything you mention is possible barring perhaps its not possible for you!

With respect to where in Mumbai you can corner and where outside I am very well aware of.

I guess it's your personal choice and preference and a not true recommendation .

I have had enough miles experience to say what I said! I will again you are sounding an exception and not bike or the tyre.

If you are so much in for mrf go get it!
