  • Tyres for taking Ninja 650 to Spiti and Ladakh

Hi, I am planning to do a month long Spiti and Leh Ladakh tour this August. I need suggestions for tyres that the Ninja can be shod with that can handle the abuse. My previous tyres were Michelin pilot sport II, great tyres that last twice the competition but extremely puncture prone. Riding for 15 days through Kumaon region I had 8 punctures in rear tyre. Needless to say the tyres were destroyed.

So now I need tyres that can grip in loose surface and also resist punctures.

I am currently thinking of MT RS 60 but will appreciate other suggestions too.

    Thanks in advance. Cheers!

    Topic Approved.

I think the tyres you're thinking of, are good. Additionally, the MT60-R might save you some cash.

If you don't intend to go off road much, you may check out Metzeler Tourance series, they should last well without significant puncture, but they're hard to come by in India.

You can search for Conti TKC70 tyres if available, they are designed for good offroad/adventure capabilities.

In addition to the TKC70, check out the Continental TrailAttack 2, which is a little more road-oriented, but still designed for unimproved roads.

If you are okay with a 180/55 .... Go for the Michelin Road 4.

It's is everything you will ever want from a tyre in Ladakh.
            1. Minimal Punctures
            2. Excellent wet grip
            3. Ideal for touring
            4. Dual compound
            5. Crazy tyre life

My previous tyres were Pilot Road 2, I wrote Pilot Sport by mistake. And man did they pick up every puncture on the road... So, are you sure of the PR4s? Because these tyres are amazing otherwise
