  • Tyres change for the Ninja 300

I am surprised to see no thread for the stock tyres swap for the Ninja 300.

The infamous IRC have a pretty bad report of grip both in the dry and wet conditions.

Now not only I am confused on what to swap to, I am not even sure from where to get those.

Are online's a safe bet? Or are there any recommended shops who can change the tyres?

Any 17 inch tyre would fit you rims. The rest of the specs may vary, but it would be better if you stick to the stock size from any good brand like Pirelli, Michelin, etc. You could choose MRF too.

"" Stock tires are 110/70/17 and 140/70/17. There are only 2 tires available in these sizes that are any good (the Diablo Rosso II & Michelin Pilot Street) ""

So, you probably try these? Of course that guy is not from India... so, see what you can get here...

Yeah. Perellis are the best bet for grip, but life would be pretty low. I wanted to bump up the rear tyre size to 150 to accommodate more option

You can try MRF Masseter, comes in stock sizes. Using it on my R3 and quite happy with it.

I have experimented with a few different tyres over the course of my 55000 km ownership experience with the N300 and have settled with the MRF FC1 and Revz C1 as a reliable and good tyre especially on dry tarmac conditions. They are fairly reasonable at around Rs. 8000/- for a pair and last around 18000 km. There is a fair amount of good information on tyres for the N300 in the xBhp ownership thread.

Here is a picture of the rear tyre taken when it was relatively new. Unfortunately I don't have a snap off the front tyre, but will take one the next time I am out for a spin.Click image for larger version

I am planning to swap my tyres for MRFs next month. Am already close to 18k on the stock and IRCs are not inspiring anymore confidence while riding, specifically on wet and cemented surfaces.

Braking is also an issue, but that is a different story all together.

There are better tyres like Michellin, Metzler etc, but if you are looking for tyres in a budget and decent performance, then I can't think of anything better than the MRFs.

My rides are mostly commute now. Also touring is slowly picking up. So I think tyres in a budget is what I am looking for.

Thanks for the pic. I think I would settle for the Revz series. I think they used to come for the R15 as well. I have been postponing to next month every month. I am already at 21K kms on the stock now
