Re: importance of front tyre in offroading
Topic Approved.
You might not get optimum grip on bad surfaces, and secondly, the tyre might have uneven wear because its designed mostly for roads.
And for this raid, you better be equipped with a different suspension too, like one from Impulse or so, if it fits. And alloy wheels break a lot easier than spoke wheels, so try getting the wheels themselves.
Have a talk with someone who's been there earlier. That would be the best way to proceed.---

Re: importance of front tyre in offroading
First, congratulation that you are participating in the event. Wish you the best of luck. To come to your question, the answer is clear, YES.Originally posted by laxman12 View Posti have installed ralco speed blaster tyre [rear]in my hero extreme 2 hundred r . i m going to raid de himalaya. do i need to change front tyre as well ?
To begin with change the alloy wheels to spoke type and if possible upgrade to a 19" rim at front with maybe 70:30 type of tyres and 50:50 tyres for rear, preferably tube type but you can get rims taped from inside to fix tubeless as well. Second, strip all unnecessary elements like saree gaurd and things like front mud gaurd, and get a custom mudgaurd for the bigger wheel. The front suspension play also needs to be increased, maybe you can directly fix the front fork+wheel setup of the Impulse.
Playing with the original stock bike is not very easy because on off road terrians at higher speed you are definately going to loose stability. There are no short-cuts to any place worth going. So ride safe when you are treading uncharted roads.
