  • Which tyre is best for Gixxer 155 ? Is there any issue with using 140/70 tyres on it ?

I am on to a tyre change for my Suzuki Gixxer 155 naked. But currently I am confused with my tyre choices. Initially I thought I could go with MRF Masseter tyres. But the stock tyre size is 140/60 and I am a bit concerned that it may damage my tyre hugger. Currently my only choice is to stick with the stock tyre or go for Ceat zoom rad. Please help me with this.

You better go with Michelin Street Radials! PSR are very good with high speed stability and also the grip is supremely good

I use Apollo for both the front and the rear. Same stock size. I have no knowledge about tyres and only followed the advice of the Tyre shop owner. He's a friend/client of my dad, so I trust his judgement.

The tyres are really good in my opinion, and I don't notice any change in grip.
I have redlined and braked hard using these tyres and the grip is just fine.
          Hope this helps.

You can use 140/60 the stock one, 140/70 gives good looks like CB Hornet/R15 v3 or even 150/60 without any kind of problem, the hugger doesn't come in contact, if you go for 150/70 then only few mm is left as clearance... Gixxer has only 6 spokes which have come with 140/70 rather than 140/60.

I'm guessing you have the Alpha S1 at the rear but which tyre did you use at the front?

I’m using Michelin pilot sport radial tyres for past 6k kilometres. 140/70 is not at all a problem. The tyre grip is great for this segment, never had a puncture so far.

                  Apollo Actizip F5 100/80 R17

                  Edit: corrected tyre specs.

You mean 100/80? Or is it actually 100/90?
Do post some pics of both the front and rear!

A gross mistake which I have now updated.
                      Thanks for pointing it out.

This post has a picture of the rear tyre.

I've added a picture of the front tyre.

Hehe, I was kinda hoping it was a 100/90 one though so I could get to see how something like that would look on the bike. [emoji12]
It's been quite a while since you've had these tyres on now (although I do understand that the lockdown has been quite as long); could you share any update on your experience so far? Any cons as compared to the stock tyres/any other tyres you may have used?

I can see no cons... As I mentioned in the previous post, my only worry was with the wear of the rear tire being uneven, but the dealer tells me there isn't anything wrong.
The tires are good, I used them for a saddlesore ride this February and they performed beautifully well.
The rear tire has been with me for the last 10 months or so and around 10k Kilometres.
The front tire has been with me for the last 7 months and around 7k kilometres.
Braking action is good, even better than the stock ones...

I'm a little eager to try them out now. Especially the S1 at the rear. [emoji16]
The uneven wear happened with my Duke on its stock Metzeler rear tyre too. Never noticed any wobbling or other signs of related issues, but it just had more wear on the right side. They say it is due to the road profile which generally slopes from the middle/divider down to the sides so tyres tend to get a tad more scuffed on the side closer to the middle. This somewhat made sense in my case but yours has the wear on the opposite side if I'm not mistaken, so the only way that explanation would make sense is if you're riding on the wrong side of the road most of the time, haha! I fortunately don't do that[emoji23].
But let me keep this theory in mind and work on finding an answer
                              Thanks for letting me know.[emoji16]
And do try them tyres, you will not be disappointed, especially coming from stock ones.
