    Accident insurance

Many years ago there was a company called ABC in Bangalore that used to give medical insurance for motorists. If you had an accident, they would cover your hospital bills. Can't seem to find any info about them now.

So is there any insurance company that provides something similar ? I'm guessing the normal medical insurance does not cover accidents, right ?

Most motor insurance companies already provide additional cover for bodily damage to rider and pillion for a nominal charge (Rs.50/lac/passenger).

Most Health insurance companies also offer accidental hospitalization covers in their standard policy. I am not sure what is it that you are looking for.
Advice is a form of nostalgia.

            Vehicle Insurance

Hello,I am confused as to ,1). What is the difference between a covernote & insurance certificate?2).I read somewhere that a covernote is valid only upto 60days but i have a covernote from iffco tokio & it is mentioned in it that its expiry is due on 23/jan/13(issued on 24/jan/2012).3).I registered just yesterday on their site & it mentions my policy number & the document i have has only a covernote number ?Am i missjng on something ?So please somebody clarify as to whether i need a separate insurance certificate to be driving on road or the supposed covernote i have will suffice.Till now i believed i had a ins. cert. but when i saw it closely, covernote number not policy number was given on it & i had to register online ,where it showed me my policy number after registereing my policy by entering my covernote number.Does the company issues separate insurance cert. ?

I think no matter which company you buy Insurance from.
They're gonna offer 50% on Fiber & 10% each year less on Metal.

But yes getting a hassle free Insurance Is a big thing to relax later on.

                    Mine is with ICICI Lombard.
I went to the SVC told everything to the SVC Insurance Agent.
He called up to the ICICI Toll Free from my mobile, registered my Claim and I got a Claim Number on my Mobile via SMS.
                    I came home.
After 2 days I got call from SVC Agentthat ICICI Agent has approved everything new in the Bike.
Just Engine, alloys, Disc Plate and Side Battery covers are left. Rest everything from Handle Weight Bars, Handle, Crash / Leg guard, levers. Everything gonna be new.

All this without even going their.
I think ICICI is serving good
First I was Scared But then We Made a Deal

                        Insurance for automobiles

Well to say, mine is a strange situation. I have a 97 model rx135. I am rebuilding my bike now and I spent about 1 lakh for the whole rebuild.
I want my bike to be insured for the same amount. Is it possible to do something like that?? I thought I would better ask here than making an ass of myself at some insurance companies.
So please help me in this matter!!

Buddy, Even the Public sector insurance companies are not willing to give a comprehensive cover to vehicles older than 10 years unless you insist. The IDV ( value of the vehicle) is based solely on the initial vehicle cost when you brought it minus the depreciation for the years after you brought it. My 13 year old samurai is not worth more than 10 K on paper even though it is in excellent condition and I will not get one of the same condition for twice the price. The only exception for valuation is in case of vintage vehicles though. The best thing for you to do would be to contact your nearest insurance branch or agent and get more details for the highest value possible that they would be willing to insure.

Hi there, this is one thing that is overlooked by many of us Bikers when we buy a new bike/insurance. A cover note is valid for not more than 30 days and you are supposed to get the copy of the insurance certificate ( usually with the permanent registration number mentioned) asap. Some of the show-rooms give the insurance certificate also on the same day the vehicle is purchased ( mentioning only the chasis and engine number as the Permanent number is not ready yet). The policy number will never be mentioned on the cover note. If you have already paid the dealer for the insurance and have not received your Insurance copy yet, follow up with him first. If he does not respond, shoot a mail and call the insurance guys with a reference of the cover note. Hurry if you have already waited for more than a month.

I was searching the net to renew it online when i got a call from Bajaj Allianz .
They are quoting a IDV of Rs. 53k along with a premium of Rs1300 and change with towing free in case of an accident/breakdown.

National india is quoting Rs. 1200 along with IDV of Rs. 45k.

From what i gathered from net, is that - it is better to have maximum IDV.

                              I have a august 2009 Pulsar.

Please advise me on which insurer should i go ahead with.
Any advice on any other insurers is also welcome.

I have taken Liberty Videocon car insurance. You should check with them too since they have good car insurance policy with reasonable premiums. Check if they satisfies your car insurance needs. They even have one of the better third party insurance!
