  • [xBhp Universal Thread]: Motion Induced Blindness

    Cheers!
    VJ
Once upon a time, a guy asked a girl 'Will you marry me?'
    The girl said, 'NO!'

And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.

    THE END

Thanks for the credits Vijay but it seems nobody here is interested in this potentially life saving piece of info.
Advice is a form of nostalgia.
Dispensing it is a way of fishing the past from the disposal, wiping it off, painting over the ugly parts and recycling it for more than it's worth.

Very interesting fact that Old Fox shared when he was on visit to Chennai during the GIR. He said that at high speed we often experience that i.e 'a dog appeared from no where' is actually not the true picture, at high speed, a glance at your speedo and back to the road, you are blind for atleast a meter on the road, that's where most of the accidents where the rider misses out the moving object and end up in a panic situation.

The same goes while conering, never take your eyes off the turning road as moving object could pose a danger. Blind turns, always approach with brakable speed and anticipate on coming vehicles in to your side.

similar thing happened to me which resulted in heart in the mouth experience,
anyways anant bhai .nice piece of info.
and the question remains why do i race?
every finishing line is the begining of a new race.

#i have learnt to manipulate my own adrenaline and the perception of biking is different.
        #overkill is underrated.
#how random roads may appear there is always a destination.sigpic
#i don't subscribe to co-incidence,either it is the rider or the other moron on the road

(:)people keeps on saying add spark to life, bajaj got hold of that idea and added an extra spark to bike.

In my opinion what the original post says about motion induced blindness does not goes with what you are referring to.
Correct me if I am wrong but from what I got from the post and experinced from the link provided is that when you are concentrating on a single object at a speed then your vision actually blocks all other surrounding objects .. What you referred to in the highlighted line is because of loosing concentration at high speeds. It happened today with me when I was trying to speed up on the highway and took a moment off the road to glance at the speedo, when my eyes came back to the road the bike in front of me was slowing down to stop and was too close to me .. I somehow swerved around it but it was all because I was in speed when I took my eyes off and was already travelling .. by the time my eyes came back the bike had travelled some distance and the scenario had changed. Same goes to the cornering and the dog case ( By the way got bit by a dog today while trying to enjoy a late night slow ride )
Joy is realizing you still have one more page full of new posts to go on your favorite thread while you thought you are on the last one :-)
