    Re: Motorcycle Headlight focus

Nice information.. I had adjusted the low beam of my P220 several times so that it doesn't hit oncoming riders in their eyes. I didn't do any calculations though. One night I adjusted the beam, went for a test ride, followed by another adjustment and test ride.. it went on for 40-45mins, and finally I was satisfied.. Now i'll check if my setting are compliant with your calculations.

On a different note, I'm just curious.. How to adjust horizontal alignment of a headlight?

^^ unfortunately, there is no horizintal alignment option, because it comes aligned horizontally from factory itself.

if your headlight is not horizontally aligned, it is probably due to some accident or mechanical fault, rectifying which will solve your problem.

it is on the lower right side on the back side of headlight. for detailed pics, you will have to wait for a week or two.

              hello sir,

very nice and informative post. But the problem is that a majority of the driving

population doesn't even know what is the difference between the high beam and the low beam.

This problem is more frequent now with a lot of ladies driving. They will just turn the

key, press the starter and off they go. They dont even know what the button on the left

side of the handle bar does.

Forget about beams people don't even use indicators, they simply turn, wherever they want, whenever they want. And if once in a million they do use the indicators, they forget to turn it off, and it keeps blinking and confusing other people, till someone tells them to turn it off.

people can buy vehicles with money but not common sense.
I would like to thank my legs for supporting me, my arms for being always by my side and my fingers; I could always count on them.

Very good observation Ankey, There are millions who buy bikes/cars every year, but seldom do they give a thought to instill some sense into their driving habits.

I frequently see Middle aged people bang in the middle of the road cruising at 30kmph with both their legs sticking out and scraping the road, and god knows where and when they will turn. Leave out bikers, even people driving 4 wheelers do not indicate where the hell they are going and just weave in and out of traffic as it it is a tamasha.

                  Well said sir,
And the most most common thing these days with ladies driving is: If a lady crashes into someone, regardless of whose mistake it was, the other person will be blamed.
And if the person happens to be a young guy with a sports bike, then GOD help him.

I've seen accidents happening where the lady turns without indicating or stopping in the middle of the road for no reason and colliding with a guy. The people around waste no time in accusing the guy who crashed because the lady braked hard suddenly in the middle of the road or turned without indicating.

I just happen to see this thread now.very very informative and will definitely help .what's more sad to see is then even the stock bikes loghybis not set up properly now a days.
Although I don't have any problem with the lights of my bike(Except for when I turn the high beam it points towards Birds flying ,but then I don't use high beam anywhere ) this can be very useful down the line.I have bookmarked this page.

                          Hi,
Please suggest me how to align the aim of projector high beam vertically.
I have bajaj V and installed projector headlights from local market and the mechanic was unable to align the aim and told me to do this at service center..
