    Hi guys
    I purchased a Splitfire Twin core low resistance spark plug wire for my Yamaha FZS via eBay, unfortunately I found out a bit later that the ignition coil in Yamaha FZs has it's default ignition wire fixed permanently inside the coil.
    I don't want to install my high performance cord extended infront of my already existing cord, the length would icnrease and it's purpose would be ruined: it has to directly connect with the coil to the actual spark plug. Since I do want to install my cord only directly with the ignition coil (and not cut the previous wire and then tape it with my high performance one as the mechanic suggested), I'll have to buy a new ignition coil too that accommodates external spark plug wires.


    MSD and NGK both do not manufacture ignition coils for bikes as far as my knowledge.
    Please suggest high voltage ignition coils, which I can purchase, or another way to install my cable WITHOUT using cut joints in the wire?

          Does your bike have mods to warrant a change in the ignition lead? If its a stock bike then you got sucked in by the marketing of the product.
          No need to change that to "gain" anything. I have a modified 200cc FZ and its still running the stock coil and lead, Even the factory sparkplug is still in use.
          If you can't plug it in then get another type of coil.

            Message to the Mods - Can we also have an option to dislike a post. Not really this one.. but many times we see a wrong info given which could be dangerous if practiced.. may be we can warn not to follow it by 'disliking' the post!

              It is MEANT to be rude
              It is my bike. My choices. All I asked was any brand of performance ignition coil that I should chose incase I want to replace it.
              I neither wanted any advice whether doing so will be a good decision, neither did I advice other bikers to practice the same anywhere

              So your point here, wrong information being given, is incorrect. In MY decision it was a value for money and I experienced a smoother ride and less vibrations. It's been barely 10km driven yet, so it's obviously impossible to say or give quotes about mileages, but the performance is MY view.
              I do not advice anyone else to follow it.

                @RustyRus: Keep your rudeness to yourself.

                It is a volunteers forum and there will be different people seeing your query and answering it according to their interpretation/knowledge. You are asking for help free of cost, so be polite.

                If you want to show attitude, then cough out some cash and call an engineer or a mechanic who would give specific answer to your specific questions.

                You could have simply ignore the unwanted answers to your query or could've used different words to sound more polite.

                I hope next time onward you would refrain from being unnecessarily rude against other members.

                    why open such a old thread and that too where no productive discussion has been made..
                    stick to the stock ignition coils.. they are best suited for the bikes battery, wires and all.. also aftermarket products are pain to fit, if they are not specially made for that particular model..

                    Ride safe and have fun.
