  • Bike accessories - Bajaj Avenger / Cruiser / Touring bikes

    Hi,

I was searching for a post wherein there will be information pertaining to Bajaj avenger accessories / Cruiser / Touring bikes.

I would request everyone to contribute to this by providing details - <Name of organization> <contact details> <kind of accessories - saddle bag, seat cover, gloves, bike modifications etc.,>

I am from Kochi / Cochin. I am looking for accessories for 3 year old avenger. Thanks in advance to all die-hard x-bhpians.

    Regards,

what kind of modifications do you intend to do to the bike??as for the tank bags and saddle bags you can look at cramster...nice quality and decent price.....seat cover can be made by any local seat maker in your city...gloves and other safety gears depend on your budget, requirement and comfort level....for these you can look at cramster/planetdsg also....
You can take the ride away from me but you cannot take the rider out of my soul.........

          Tubeless tyres and alloy wheels
          Gas shocks at the rear
The rear portion of seat is too narrow. This has to be broader for optimum comfort. So the whole seat has to be changed!!
All black paint job like in P180 for the lower portion of bike
Bajaj hologram in metal (like in Unicorn - Good job Honda)
I intend to fix a good quality bag on the right side of the bike (i had enquired about the bag which comes in Bullet. I was told by the Kochi dealer that the saddle bag cost only Rs. 10000/-...Phew!!)
Foot rest for keeping the tired feet on level platform (like in Yamaha enticer).

I also would like to know if all can contribute to prepare a list of specialists who do such a job in metros and tier two cities (like Cochin, Coimbatore, Nagpur to cite examples). I will do some hunting around the city and revert back with my posts in a couple of days time. However fellow kochites can contribute. Lets do it for the benefit of all x-bhpians.

This need not be limited to Bajaj. It can be for all touring bikes like Karizma, Enfield - thunderbird.

Agree with you. Pro-biking showroom does not seem to be forward looking (only in name). The one in Kochi is located in an inaccessible place and does not have enough space. It should be moved to a more central location say on the NH 47 (road from Edapally leading to Vytilla) where you have all the big car guys gunning for customers during our recessionary times!!

I have a saddle bag for my Silver Avenger.
Honest suggestion- DON'T PURCHASE THAT BAG ! ..

The bag needs a proper weight balancing from both the sides and even a minor difference in weight on any side will make the bag hang on one side.

Mine one got melted from the right silencer and is dead.

Top of that- u pay 2200 bucks for two bags which is not water proof , hell then why its meant for bikes????

The nylon stuff(or watever) its made of , u'll get backpack of same quality stuff in shivaji nagar for max 200 bucks.

The saddle bag does not deserve to be anything more than 500 bucks!

You cannot strongly tie the bags to the bike as the string looks like a cheap piece of nylon which slips and get loosened every now and then ..

I don't know why but people are crazy about Cramster. Seeing the quality of stuff does NOT seems to be proportionate with the prices- its heavily exorbitant.

I had a look on the Armour jackets, the quality is no way near to similar priced DSG jackets. The plastic quality of knee guard is also awful, I dunno what is the justification of the heavy price tag.

So stay away from Cramster, and its better spend some more but get a better quality stuff from any diff brand.

Thank you. Thats a pretty exhaustive and insightful reply. I am meaning to have a bag on one side of the bike only (as mentioned early). Somehow i am fed up of having a plastic box on one side which mars the beauty of the avenger.

I was wondering what other x-bhpians are doing?! Come on guys, lets post useful information pertaining to each city so that newbies / oldbies alike can use the info on this thread to locate reputed companies for buying accessories for Touring bikes. Look forward to everybody's cooperation and valuable views.

                  Thanks for starting this thread..
I have been using the Avy 180 for about two months for short rides on weekends and daily commute. Here is my wishlist

                  1. Saddlebag - one sided Not too big
                  2. Better lamp. Avy is blessed with a 55W coil and the stock lamp can be easily replaced by a better one. My choice - Philips Xtreme power
                  3. Better rear tyre. The stock one is awful. Somebody suggested a 140/80 from MRF. Will check it out. The spoke wheels look cool...
                  4. Maybe a more cruiser-like handlebar, I have seen Avys fitted with TB handlebars. looks nice. One guy I talked to said that with those you cant lean and bend. But you dont do that with a bike like Avy
                  5. Paint job(?. I kindof like my silver Avy, but a white with orange flames will look cool...
                  6. Extra padding for the seat, exp the rear but shouldnt increase the height too much.
                  7. Enticer type footrest. A boon when cruising in a straight line. The stock footpegs give a knee ache after a while.
                  8. Louder horn. The stock is too feeble.

Maybe will add more once I see other sugggestions here.

                  Beo

for better illumination, one can use the osram nighbreaker...fantastic illumination and total VFM.....seat can be made thicker by adding more padding on the sides as well as on the upper part but then this only deteriorate after sometime giving the seat a flabby look...instead of padding on the sides,u can put more cushioning on the uppper part only....whichever saddle bag that you buy,you have to make sure that it doesnt touch the silencer at all....plus it should be tied up firmly ad securely...why dont you try to fix a bag on the left side with the saree guard??
You can take the ride away from me but you cannot take the rider out of my soul.........

Its just the cost, ONB costs about 800 per bulb while the Philips costs 400. Both are available in pairs so you'd have to find somebody to share the cost.
But I've heard lots of good things about the ONB if cost is not the deciding factor.

Can the Osram NIghtbreaker be used on the Unicorn? If yes, can anyone point me to where I can get it in Pune?

Heard from an avid bullet enthusiast that there is a seasoned biker-mod guy in Cochin / Kochi kerala who can do the mods. Will post the details tomorrow. I find the rear shocks are quite hard, i dont understand why Bajaj has not bothered to put gas shocks as stock ones (atleast in the new 200 avenger). I visited the pro-biking showroom at Kochi (Kaloor-Popular automobiles). The ASM told that a guy who had come for service of his 200 avenger had fixed a saddle bag on one side (purchased from Bangalore). I am waiting for hearing from him on the source of the same. Will update you guys once i hear from him.

^^ There is no nitrox in Avy coz Avy has a better suspension than the ones in Pulsar family. Its the height which kills (do some physics calc u'll know) ...
What do you want to carry on ur bike? I have an elastic net in the saree guard and things I have carried till date are-
Veggies, Camera bag with tripod, strolly(23 kgs one), soft travel bag, carpet (king size) and believe it or not I have carried CPU also , unfortunately I do not have the photo.
Find the foto of the blue elastic net-
