  • [xBhp Universal Thread]: My new video channel coming soon!

Hey all you xBhpians! The Mountain will be joining the 21st century in about a week or so, with the introduction of my video channel. I'll be posting the link to my channel later, if the admins are willing (nothing there yet anyway), but in the meantime, are there any specific topics you'd like to see? I'll be starting out with some fairly ordinary videos of the area where I live in New Hampshire USA, along with some riding tip videos and basic bike maintenance, and they won't have any fancy effects or soundtracks (yet) but I'll gladly take requests too! Let me know below what you want.
ATGATT: All The Gear, All The Time!

Current bike: Yamaha XT1200Z Super Tenere

Put the phone away, put your helmet on, and ride!

Scooters are like fat girls: fun to ride, but embarrassing if your friends see you with one.

Ok, it's finally up. First vid is posted (though with minimal production values) so please stop by and enjoy. More videos to come soon, and hopefully I'll manage to keep a fairly regular schedule. For now, videos will be rides through the northern New England countryside, though your requests are welcome.

One other note: Since this is in the US, the speedometer on my bike reads in miles per hour, for those of you eagle-eyed enough to read it (it's a little dark in the video). Ditto for speed limit signs and distances marked on highway signs.

        The mountain is at it!

Nice work man, I saw your video. And dare I make some suggestions, having watched some YT blogs.

For such vlogs, use a mic and in the intro, tell us a little about what you're riding to and stuff. And then on the way you could indulge audience by talking about the ride and your riding experience. It gets the people hooked to the stuff and adds some excitement to the ride video.

I'm looking forward to more videos - vlogs, tips and tricks, DIY etc.

        Safe riding bro.

I appreciate the tip. That first video is really more of a test, to make sure the camera works and produces the results I want, and for me to figure out the editing software. I do already have a very nice microphone (and a bunch of other tools), but unfortunately the adapter to connect the mic to the camera is still in shipping. It should be here later this week, and I'll be able to add voice. I'm going to re-upload the video at higher resolution, too. The initial test at 480p didn't come through as clearly as I'd hoped.

I re-uploaded the video, now in 1080p HD. Sorry, that means the comment you left is no longer available. It's much clearer.

Saw your video. Looks good. The Super Tenere is my dream bike. Too bad Yamaha hasn't brought it to the Indian shores.[emoji20]

Thanks for all the views and subscribes! I'm planning to shoot and post another vid tomorrow, as the weather should be good. I'll see if I can get the microphone set up as well, so I can add some commentary.

Nice man, I'm eagerly awaiting the tips and tricks and DIY videos.

I for one would suggest something like Trail Braking video, once you get the mic setup working.

Re: My new video channel coming soon!

Well, no video today. I did a nice long ride, through beautiful countryside plus a trip down a narrow rocky trail, and unfortunately I forgot to check the battery first, so I recorded about 30 minutes of boring ride through traffic and towns, and then the video cuts out just as I am turning on to the trail, which means it missed the trail and all the scenic backroads after that. I'll have to redo the ride again a bit later this week.

I may upload some of the video later that I did record, but it doesn't have as much interesting footage as I'd hoped.

I'll try to do a video later on trail braking, but there's not much you can see. Trail braking is just braking as you go into a corner and actually start leaning over and turning. If you do all your braking before the corner, and then discover you're going too fast after you start turning, it's a really bad idea to get back on the brakes. It disrupts the suspension. If you brake as you go into the corner, and gently release them as you come down to the speed you want to have going through the corner, it doesn't disrupt the bike and means you can brake later, get your speed set while turning, and be able to get back on the throttle smoothly.

Re: My new video channel coming soon!

Ok, I chopped together what footage I did manage to capture today; it should be live in a couple of hours after this message is posted. The first half is just bits and pieces of the in-town riding, while the second half is uncut and shows the ride up into the hills. In the last ten minutes of the video, most of the houses you see, particularly right around the 15:00 to 20:00 section, are at least 150 years old, some closer to 200. At the very end (as mentioned in the video comment) you see me turning off to a narrow lane into the trees. That little road was supposed to be the main point of the video, but my camera ran out of battery just as I made the turn. So tune in soon for another new vid that will show the actual road I meant to record.

In New Hampshire, we have a thing called "Class-VI roads", which are roads that are no longer maintained at all, are typically unpaved, but are still legal roadways. The road I will be uploading soon is one of these Class-VI roads, and it's not much more than a trail at this point, though once upon a time it was a regular farm road just like all the others in the video. It's very rocky, narrow, muddy in places, and tricky to ride a 270KG motorcycle down.

Sorry for the delay. I do have new video, but I'm not happy with the voice-over so I'm working to put it together. I did ride that road I promised in the last video, so I want to be sure I can share it with you all. Once it's ready, I'll post it over on the Travelogue board so folks can see it there.
