  • Service Center Reviews

I had an idea which would help all of us bikers quite a bit. Why don't all you guys post in this thread; the bike you have, the place you get it serviced (with city name and branch) and your experience with the service center.

    Bike: Pulsar 200
Service Center: Khivraj Motors, Kasturba Road, Bangalore
Experience: Not great, they do not service the bike properly. They are just in a hurry to finish the job at hand and get on to the next one. Probably because they are under staffed and are trying to handle 30 bikes a day.

      Bike : Apache RTR FI
Service Center : Ramkay TVS, Adayar
Experience : Good. Initially my bike was having hell a lot of problem, now most of the thing has been sorted out, Some 4-5 experienced guys are there to fix the major problems . Last time when I gave the bike for servicing and for fixing some minor issues they asked me to take the bike home only if I'm satisfied.

        Recommendation : Yes
Tips : leave the bike early mrng, tell svc. guy you'll take the bike back only if issues are resolved, take delivery test ride and report any issues before billing / payment.

The review sounds rosy ? That's b'cos I had complained to HH regional office twice and svc. head is very close to me after that !!!

          Bike : P200
Service Center: Khivraj , Kasturba Road, Bangalore

Ratings: 0/10 (Can give -100/10 also but it won't work)
Summary : If you ever want to screw up your bike, or perhaps, by a stroke of luck, get a company replacement due to servicing faults, look no further!
I'd say go here only to get the dealer stamp on your bike (for warranty). Then take it somewhere else for the actual servicing.

There are only few Good Expereienced People available and often the bikese are been serviced only by New engineers who all make a mess of our Bike and learn to service
Thier Customer Care Support is nice but the service is not High standards
            Perhaps not for me...

              Bike : RTR 160
Service Center : Triton TVS, Bellary road.
              Ratings : 3/10
Summary : They are eager to note down the problems, but never work on them. They are in a hurry to just go from one bike to another. The problems remain as they are are. You have to be after them to get any issue resolved.
Not a great place to have your bike serviced.

I agree with MindGrinder. Orion doesnt do much during the service and end up returning the bike dirtier than when you gave it to them. I made them wash the bike 3 freakin times after the last service and wasted over an hour in the process. They will however, listen to you when you hand your bike to them. Would strongly recommend staying away from them on weekends, they get too many bikes and cant handle the load. The only reason I give it to them is that its easy for me to head to office from Orion motors as compared to the other service centres.

                      Bike: P200 (March 2009)
Service Center: Jai Bajaj, Adyar Chennai
No. of Services: 5 free services.
                      Customer Experience:
Customer handling: POOR. They listen intently while you give it for service, note down everything, but wait, its not over yet . I have done 4 of my free services here, and each time, there was something or the other where they screwed up. I guess, The only trick is to make friends with one of the service supervisors, and pray to get the job done to your satisfaction.

Only during my last service was I a bit satisfied, since I made sure I stayed in front of the bike, while it was being serviced. Otherwise I'd normally have to listen to their hogwash of excuses as to why stuff was not done, as instructed.

One another thing, They actually charged me approx 100/- INR every time I asked them to clean/lubricate the chain, I was like WTF??? Its a free service and it is their f#kkin JOB!! and I know it should be free, because I have serviced it once at Bangalore Hoodi junction Khivraj PBK, and I was not charged a penny.

Its not just this, every time I give it for a free service, they charege me for something or the other, nuts/bolts etc etc.

This one time, I had asked them to replace my bar weights after an accident, and they ended up putting the 220 ones on my 200. When I told them about this, they actually argued with me, saying these come with the new 200's, I was like, yeah rite... Mine is just 7 months old, and AFAIK there is no so called NEW version. Finally I went upto the parking lot, and pointed out a bunch of 200's, and 220's to the service supervisor to get this into his no-brain head.

There was an issue with my front fork, and it has still not been rectified, after two services (actually I hear a clicking noise in the front forks or handle bars? when I use the front brakes)

The customer service is VERY VERY poor, its like they DO NOT give a damn once you buy the bike, u're on your own after that.

Also it is advisable NEVER to give your bike for servicing on a weekend. They'd probably just wash it and give it back to u.

Again, If you got to this place at all, make sure you sit there (in the service bay) all through the service.

                      All the best!

                          >> Ambience : 3/5 (TV, water & mags but you can't afford to ignore your serviced machine. They might just wash it and give it back, doing nothing in engine.)

Recommendation : NO, until Bajaj do something about those cheaters.

Tips : notice all the bike's problems. Bring it to service centre's notice. Be there when your bike is service. See that they do the necessary job, and not just "wash and deliver".
                          Ensure that problems are solved.
ALSO, ensure that new problems (like non-functioning indicators, tappet maladjustment) haven't made their way ... ALSO, ensure that your fuel tank's not replaced with a painted one.

As soon as you know a problem, go the centre at the earliest and complain!

their cleaning was good, they even polish it with WAXPOL but i did feel i lost some pick up after the service, not sure though.

                              KTM Duke 200 (2012)

                              1) Sai Service Kothrud - Near Paud Road Flyover - Pune

Quite good service in general. Very good attitude. I will specially mention one of the senior guys there - Sachin Paygude. He takes good care of your vehicle and gives good advice also about changing or not changing some spares.
Very initial servicing gave a bit of problem because of tight tolerances on KTM duke were not well understood by mechanics and my bike's front brake pads kept brushing with the disc slightly. This was very beginning of KTM Duke in India so that is ok I guess.
But as soon as I involved Sachin, this got resolved. Next time onwards whenever I took my bike for servicing, they took care of checking brakes of both wheels to ensure that while on stand, the wheel ran freely and brake pads didn't brush against the disk when no pressure was applied to brake levers.
In general spare parts have not caused issues. Once I had to wait for brake pads for 3-4 days but never any other time.
Bike has always been trouble free so far in its 3.5 years of life with me.

                              2) SNK - Wakdewadi - Pune

Decent service as such. A bit more expensive. They mandate usage of Motul engine oil while Sai Service gives choice of Bajaj DTSi as a default and allows Motul as an option if customer is willing to pay. Sai Service also allows you to bring your own oil as long as it has same ratings as mentioned in KTM user manual.

                              3) KTM Chinchwad - Pune

Quite good service - though I had gone there only for minor things 1-2 times. Quite accommodating in general.

KTM Chinchwad and Sai Service KTM Kothrud don't provide pick-up drop services.
KTM Wakdewadi provide pick-up and drop service but it is quite expensive - just pick-up or drop costs whopping Rs 400/- which is more than what I get charged for my Honda City!!

But in general KTM as a product and service both - Two Thumbs Up! I am a KTM fan ever since I bought Duke 200 though I sold it just recently to upgrade to Triumph Street Triple. If KTM had competing product in same segment (may be Duke 690) I would have most probably chosen that..

                              Hey there...

Due to typical Indian Mechanic mind-set, they always think you want best possible mileage from your bike. Hence they play around with Carburetor usually to extract more "average"...Due to this I used to struggle with pick-up of my Pulsar 180 DTSi in the past and had to tell mechanics to keep the setting tuned for best pick up and not average as I didn't want average. They used to look at me as if I was from some mental hospital I have forced them to re-tune and usually this restored my bike's pick up.

That very well could be the case with you also. Even with Fuel Injected bikes, they typically have a device that allows you to change fuel/ignition profile and they can typically choose from a set of 2-3 profiles given to them by company. Usually it would be best average, normal and best performance kind of profile. This is not available for yourself to do it at home! They will usually apply best average profile. This results in smoother feeling but lower pick up. Best performance may give quite good pick-up but the behaviour is less smooth and somewhat abrupt (as these bikes are not yet to the level of litre class superbikes that have actual user selectable modes)
