  • [xBhp Universal Thread]: How to clean wax stains on black plastic parts

I made the mistake of using a liquid wax on the matte black plastic parts on my FZ16 and after a few days, they turned whitish from the wax residue.

Some research on the web told me to look for various products that are simply not available in India or cost too much. So I worked on the problem myself and here's the solution!

First, clean the affected parts with a kerosene soaked rag or sponge. Rub thoroughly using SMALL CIRCULAR MOTIONS. This will remove the wax to a large extent.

Once the parts dry, if there are still any white stains, use a soft pencil eraser and rub away the remaining stains. Any eraser will do so long as it's soft and meant for pencil marks.

This is a bit tedious but it works and costs almost very little money.

The Wheel was a great invention; Two Wheels with a Motor in between was even better!

      Nice find
Have done the same mistake last week but ignored the marks on the rear mudguard plastic and indicators of my 220
The brush i used for lubricating chain- i used a little left of it to blacken the rear mudguard though its a silly solution

Will try out the eraser thing next time, hope you have tried it and not just read it from some site.

Wont a Dashboard polish for cars do wonders to the plastic parts of bikes as it shines the black bumpers too? Lemme sneak the thing out of dad's car next week and try it on my bike.

As my first post shows, I've tried this on my FZ16 with good results.

After cleaning the plastic, I used Waxpol silicone polish on them to keep them looking black. It's not the best product but it works well and it's cheap; Rs.65 for 250 ml. It also works on any matte finish plastic or painted parts.
