Re: Lubricating your chain
The main purpose of using a brush is not to clean the chain, but to agitate the dust and debris. Also the bristles of the brush reaches to spots where cloth cannot. Once the dirt has become soft from brushing it can be flushed with a jet of water. Post that you can use cloth to wipe off any oil/grease residue along with some dirt. Ensure you have 2 cloths. One post the water jet and the 2nd after that for the final finish.Originally posted by devils_friend View PostI found the chain got cleaned better with the use of cloth. With toothbrush, the brush turned just black with improper cleaning. The Motul cleaner works very well. It removes the gunk and hard stuff easily without any issues (personal view).

Re: Lubricating your chain
Check this thread out. It was posted some other place here on xBhp but still, posting it here for the benefit of all. WD - 40 seems the most practical option, considering that few of us have access to kerosene and even fewer to ATF. But yes, it does dry out my chain. Still looking for a chain lube that is easily available in India.

Re: Lubricating your chain
Does it job superb; I'd to lube it 3 times in 2251 Km & the chain was holding super fantastic. I'm going to stop using Motul chain lube & switch to Rolon going forward. Thanks to my good friend Aamir from Ahmedabad, who donated to me.Originally posted by Shiv_beam View PostHow does rolon chain clean+lube score for CBR250R chain?Skill is what keeps you on a Motorcycle

Re: Lubricating your chain
Applied rolon on my cbr chain & it did good for 600km though I had some stains on the rim.Originally posted by aargee View PostDoes it job superb; I'd to lube it 3 times in 2251 Km & the chain was holding super fantastic.
I have a question, I had rolon(120ml) twice on my chain and it seems there is enough left to lube my chain one more time. Am I over doing it?
In my hometown only rolon and diamond lube are available. I'm planning on trying either diamond or getting tribocor online.

Re: Lubricating your chain
I have used Diamond recently, I found it pretty good actually. Haven't used Rolon due to mostly negative reviews.Originally posted by Shiv_beam View PostApplied rolon on my cbr chain & it did good for 600km though I had some stains on the rim.

Re: Lubricating your chain
Same here on my trip, but ideally, this is how one should apply the lube...Originally posted by Shiv_beam View PostApplied rolon on my cbr chain & it did good for 600km though I had some stains on the rim.
- Apply the lube very close the chain, possibly link by link. Yes, it's painful & time consuming, but, very effective
- AVOID riding the bike for next 8-12 hours atleast so as the lube could settle
Then try, you'll have almost no stains on the alloy wheels. I'll try & make a video next time, IF possible.
Possibly yes; I tried Diamond, IIRC, it lasted for a good 4-5 times applicationOriginally posted by Shiv_beam View PostI have a question, I had rolon(120ml) twice on my chain and it seems there is enough left to lube my chain one more time. Am I over doing it?Skill is what keeps you on a Motorcycle

Good friend wanted to donate it, but Aargee insisted on a purchaseOriginally posted by aargee View PostDoes it job superb; I'd to lube it 3 times in 2251 Km & the chain was holding super fantastic. Dealers say a bigger one is available, but I've not spotted it yet. It's available for 120 at larger retailers, smaller shops will charge you MRP.Originally posted by Divya Sharan View PostSir jee, have you managed to source a bigger bottle of Rolon? Yep, best thing is to go to the local auto market - we have one here where all sorts of automotive parts are available for bikes and cars. Prices will be cheaper than going to individual shops who'll charge at MRP. This applies to all automotive parts I guess.Originally posted by aargee View PostArrey...that is the same as Ahmedabad too

Re: Lubricating your chain
Ofcourse you still donated me one; it lasted for one round of lubing the chain. The new one still has still left over for probably another 2 rounds of spray.Originally posted by AK3D View PostGood friend wanted to donate it, but Aargee insisted on a purchase

Re: Lubricating your chain
Just got a reply from Rolon guys - they have larger size cans available at MRP 500 (should be lower, I guess). They gave me Ahmedabad dealer addresses, I've asked them to provide Bangalore and Chennai dealer addresses as well.Originally posted by Divya Sharan View PostSir jee, have you managed to source a bigger bottle of Rolon? Edit : Another company in my good books. When people at higher levels bother to respond to end user queries so fast, it shows that they are dedicated to their customer base.Last edited by AK3D; 01-09-2014, 06:39 PM.
