Motorcycle Battery maintenance

Ok so I was getting my P200 serviced, the svc guy tells me to have my battery charged.

Now what does that mean? He says go to a shop and they will connect wires and charge the battery.

Point being, I'm using the bike for ~2 years and never had any problem. No mods done either. So won't the battery get charged while riding? I do very little night riding.

Anyone who can shed light on this oddity?

Normally, the bike's battery doesnt get discharged so soon...but if there is a problem then there can be something in the RR unit too. Get that also checked by the mech you went too.

thank you anmol.. I bought an exide MF cell 6 months ago and still going pretty well.. but the shop keeper told me then that eventhough its a maintenance free cell, I'll have to check it every 6 months and fill water.. I can't understand the point there.. If its said as a maintenance free battery then why there is a need for check up and how does it differ from other cells??

sometimes the shopkeepers sell the battery by saying thats its maintenance free....but infact sometimes they sell very low maintenance free battery...........so be sure when u buy a maintenance free battery...u get a sealed battery.......[personal experience].

Check the electrolyte level every month and not every 6 months for non-maintenance free batteries. The frequency depends on the climate of the region.

actually all batteries now a days are low maintenance free battery so 6 month time is ok......but i advise ppl who live in cold like this time in delhi.....do fill up ur battery levels wid distlled water...so that the charge would stay up there for more time.....

hi frnds......can ane1 suggest which battery do i go for as my bike's battery is kaput. (old p150)....sum1 did suggest amron in another thread but here in kolkata most of my frnds nd locals said to go for other brands....please help?

When I was at home, water level in Libero's battery used to drain to half of the normal amount in 3 months during summer time.

today i started my zma and zmr after 10 days.....and to surprise me it just took one self to start the bike and both roared...

^^ 10 days is hardly anything. IMO, all bikes nowadays are that much reliable. Recently. my bike started with a single slightly long self after almost a month. (23 days to be exact)

Its a P150. I.5 yr old battery. And I know Delhi is considerably colder, here temp is 15-17 C. Only thing is, I top up water ever 3/6mnth as needed.
