        So, in order to take overcome this, one has to upgrade the jet size,which would lead to more fuel coming in for combustion. Which in turn would lead to lower fuel efficiency.

            Thats basic common sense. If you dont change the fuel mixture after a filter install its bound to turn lean. However its no fault of the filter that you claim to lower the fuel efficiency. Its the owner!
            NO point in blaming something that you are goofing with.

            @samarth - Dude, AFR is air fuel ratio. It can be changed on an FI or a carb engine, electronically and mechanically respectively. How does that matter if its India or USA?
            Lets not talk about badly maintained stock engines, like in this case yours. I am talking about efficiency at its full potential.

              ^ Bro, I know AFR, but my point was that we don't have accurate indicators of AFR when we upgrade to new air filters.
              Plug color, heat, and some other rough indicators... That's it!

              Anyways, Could you please answer my query about Karizma ZMR?

              It's PGM-Fi does have an O2 Sensor, so can it take an K&N Filter and adjust AFR automatically for high performance?

                  I have been using K&n r1100 on my 05 model ZMA(tuning was changed after installing filter). I am very happy with its overall performance. t has a combination of a smooth engine and good fuel efficiency(37 to 44). i never had heating problems though i ride in long stretches up to 200kms non stop at 80Km/hr. my Plug colour is of 'Light Rust' colour. Is there still a necessity to upjet my bike ?
