    Few queries..
    1. Whats the overall space consumption?
    2. U said, Modest! Could u mention the appopriate display settings?
    3. And yeah, do mention the FPS, ur machine churns out at those settings.
    1.HD space required: About 7GB.
2.Ran the game on 1024x768.Anti-aliasing 2x. All Advanced settings turned to gamer except Shadow detailing which was set to minimum.
Here I must point out that the in game advanced settings are interpreted as follows
    Minimum-Minimum.
    Mainstream-Medium
    Gamer-High
    Enthusiast-Aryan Da's PC.

3.The FPS ran from 25-35 in indoor environment and 20-30 outside. I have full confidence that it will run even better(40FPS) in XP although the DX 10 eye candy will be missed.

Guy's i need a laptop which can handle 3D Max,Maya and some Games. And it should be under 50k too.

I'm getting a cheap qoute on an HP with 3GB Ram and 512 MB Graphics with a 2.0 or 1.8 GHz processor. The prob i that is it really necessary that you need a 2.4 Ghz processor with that kind of RAM and Graphic card ? And the prob is that only Dell has got 2.4Ghz solutions.

What about the Macbook retailing for around 56k ?

Does no one here like RPGs?????

I'm a HUGE RPG nut. Name a decent RPG and I've probably not just played it, but signed off a few weeks of my life to it in complete slavery!

          Favs:

Planescape Torment, Baldurs Gate(all), Fallout, Fallout 2, Knights Of The Old Republic, KOTOR 2, Oblivion, Mass Effect, Neverwinter Nights 2 + Mask Of The Betrayer, Vampire The Masquerade: Bloodlines, and a few I'm dead sure I'm forgetting.

I really cant wait for the one game which no one seems to care about - Fallout 3!! Seriously, if you want kickass immersive gameplay, you NEED to check it out!

Oh and crysis was one heck of a game - although I'm not much of an FPS gamer, this one was FUN! So was Gears of War!

My rig - it's what runs my audio production work, just threw in a nice graphics card to turn it into a gaming rig when needed.

Intel Xeon e5420 X 2 (total 8 cores Assasin's Creed actually used this!!!)
          tyan tempest s5397 m/b
          4 gb FBDIMM ram
24" LG full HD lcd display + 19" Benq LCD display, rotated for portrait mode.
          NVidia 8800GT 512mb
xbox 360 controller(playing gears of war on this is just too rewarding! Although aiming is a pain!)
          2.3tb HDD

It's a major overkill for gaming, especially the processors, but I need them for audio production work.

Almost all games run great @ 1920 X 1200, with everything set to max, although with some games, I've to set the number of processors affinity a little lower, for bad multicore programming!!

Also, Assasin's Creed was probably the only game which used ALL 8 cores of my system - huge game world, huge calculations, raw power!

          Seriously, no RPG fans here???

@grey: Though not a RPG fan per se, but I love playing RPGs as well (if only these did not take SO much time).. I have played (and enjoyed) quite a few of those RPGs that you have mentioned there, namely, Elder Scrolls (III & IV[Oblivion]), Baldur's Gate, Vampires - The Masquerade Bloodlines, Neverwinter Nights 1 & 2.

P.S: That system you have got, is an absolute BEHEMOTH! Uber-cool!
            :)

Post the model no. also the amount of RAM shared is not important, but the gfx chip used is. Try to get a new lappy with nVidia 8300 onboard gfx.
I'll post the model no. later.

if he needs to run maya and stuff he needs a dedicated graphics card.not a shared.he will have to spruce up his budget to a 70k round about for a dedicated config.
                there are no stupid questions.

I have a query. I currently have a 1GB stick of Kingston DDR2 667. I was thinking of going for more.Since RAM is kinda cheap these days I was thinking of going for 2 GBs more. What I want to know is that whether I should buy a 2x1 GB sticks or a single 2GB stick. Or should I just add 1GB more and let them work in dual channel?
Will their be a considerable performance difference between these two configurations? Which is better 1+2 GB or 1+1GB in dual channel?
                    I am not into overclocking.

^^Go for another 1GB stick and let them work in dual channel mode.
Well, Dual Channel architecture describes a technology that theoretically doubles data throughput from RAM to the memory controller. As far as practical implications goes, performance is better than typical setup.

I haven't ever used an ATi card, I am kind of biased towards an NVIDIA!
