@Aparajith: So true! Sometimes, the games such a long time to arrive at the mecca, that by the time the title arrives, the euphoria has just died down, which frankly, really sucks. I know it's way better to just download a title as soon as it is released than to actually go to the mecca to find that it would take another couple of weeks(!!) to arrive, but then again my net connection does not allow me such liberty to just download a game.

P.S: Does the original titles arrive on stores much faster than at the mecca? Any idea?

the official quantam is YET to release.this is a pre ****cough** release.
so reviews are yet to come.

aryan.we utilise the 8 hrs sleep mode to download games..while we sleep our comps work.and given the healthy seeders,a decent 215 to 225kbps download speed is achieved.i downloaded GRID which was around 6gb in 24hrs flat.ie 8 hrs shift for 3 days.i have a VSNL time based plan.

but thing of downloading is say example.
6gb download,6gb extract ie ISO and then again 12GB actual installation.

Yes, that is what puzzled me because the release date of 'Quantum of Solace' is given as November 04. Now, I know that it actually is a pre-release ( a leak, probably..)..

As for downloading games, it really seems to be the best and viable option than to pay visit to the mecca time and again and disappointed every time...

Just for the record, I have Airtel's 128kbps unlimited plan and it takes 2 days to download a 4GB game. The tradeoff is anyways good. The 2 days waiting period is worth the saving in terms of money and time (to go to the "meccas").

I would love to get my hands on original titles. Nothing really beats the feel a original DVD title can give you, but then again the astronomical price that these command just makes it absolutely impossible (atleast for me) to get these..

999 bucks is still very much affordable but 1799-2000+ is really out of the question!

but sometimes visiting the mecca is worth.suppose you download a game.then you come to know that some files are nuked.then again you download new one.so waste of broadband.though you have comments but still sometimes it may turn a waste.

This is the best thing about a mecca, the exchange scheme, whereby one can even get a perfectly working title exchanged for another game, on the pretext that there is some file(s) missing and this game "would not work on my PC".. (If you get the drift..)

i once loaded underground2 on my pc for free by taking the MASTER cd on the pretext of checking it and then returning it and telling the reason that i dont have the graphics card.(which i did)
but now they have progressed.they have comps to check whether what you are talking is true or not.
my provider tells me to call first before coming for an exchange...VIP status.

^^Thats true!! I used to fool around with them earlier. But now if u say, there is a problem, he comes back asking for the specific issue. If u say that the CD has not been written properly, they install, run it and check it.

assuming u have 256 kbps connection that means 32 KBps download speed at optimum.

6 GB = 6*1024*1024= 6291456 KB in the game

which means time taken atleast should be 6291456/32 = 196608 seconds
= 3279 mins
= 55 hours approx

how did u do it 24 hours, dude? I think you have twice the speed you mentioned. As for me Skullptura downloads are reliable but take ALOT of time as there are soooo many leechers at once. But its worth it and it works most of the time.

its even better if you live very close by to the mecca....you can go everyday and check for new titles.. if they don't work, no probs, they're nearby so go get them exchanged. This was the case for me sometime back...but sadly, I have shifted...

Far Cry2 is definitely a very good game,otherwise there cud not have been so many takers of it.Personal choices vary................still,I prefer Crysis.Why?

The thrill....................you fight alone when the ground below ur feet shakes and a mountain shakes spewing out alien landscape above you.Helicopters above ur head rocketing you constantly and u jump and vanish around into waters like a Predator,Nano suit personnel of enemy playing ur game with u.Jumping into unknown to find urself in an alien territory with never seen before lanscape.......................fighting in the zero gravity zone.................arranging covert strikes in alien enemy territory.Snow covered landscape gives a sense of doomsday...............escorting the comrade through it.Riding the Vtol thru sudden suction traps.................just like keepin ur bike throttle wringed on heavily trafficked streets.Landing Vtol on huge USwarship.One man army against a whole Ship of damned aliens................to be a survivor.........................now thats a thrill.

Til now I did not find such hrill in FarCry2................being just in the second stage of the Game.

Again, I mean no argument but why I wud prefer Crysis over Farcry2.................Imagine how Crysis2 wud be with Nomad,Psycho,Prophet and Oneill thrown in together.
