For Casual Meets : Fountain Hotel at Thane Ghodbunder Highway

          For short rides plus party:

          1. Ganaka Motel, Igatpuri
          - 90 KMs from Thane Eternity Mall. As soon as Kasara Ghat ends on NH3 keep left and right after Manas Resort there is a rough inroad into Ganaka Motel and the sign board says "Valley-view". One room costs Rs 200 capacity 2 people, Rs 100 per extra person. Big Balcony for booze party though they don't have permit. Big parking lot.
ALWAYS lock the handle lock on your bikes here as tapori village kids will play go-kart with your motorcycle and your bike will be the $hits in the morning after a few hundred crashes on the slopes.

          2. Kashid Beach - Here, about 2 KMs before the actual Kashid Beach there is a cheap guest house - no fixed price - basic facilities - great food at cheap cost - bargain for everything ! There are no homes/ hotels near this guest house and my friends call it "our Bhoot Bungla" - walk to the beach - no one there - carry a small knife if you are going to sit there all night to do fishing - take a sober friend along for night fishing/boozing on the rocks of the beach there as it is deserted area - unlike the main Kashid beach.

          3. Uttan beach, near Gorai - Just don't make too much nuisance. Have a nice drink on the deserted beach - feed the dogs so they stay there for your own protection - use sleeping bag or tent to sleep on the beach to the sounds of the ocean and twinkling sky above. I sleep on the sands as I find it safer that way (sleeping bags restrict movement and tents are just weird cages). But I get up early at break of light before the tiny crabs wake up.

          4. Hanuman ghat at Malshej Ghat - One 24x7 dhaba just before Ghat starts. Ask for bhurji pav or misal and tea. Go at night and see the sunrise and leave by 7 AM (Kalyan. Otherwise Malshej itself has very less traffic all day/night) while traffic is less and sun is not too hot. In winter its chilling cold. There is one point at Malshej Ghat where you can see a huge Heart Shaped natural carving on the mountain top.

Many more actually but I see plenty of Mumbaikars are contributing.

          Best Wishes,
          UD

            Hello,

            Bumping the thread.

            This thread is small enough.

And actually the possibilities for this thread is so big that I was expecting that each region/ city would have its list in a separate thread - you know like the G2G Threads which are city / region specific.

            adding one more:

            * Chinchoti village - as less as 8 KMs from Fountain Hotel Thane. Take a right into the village from NH8. Here get a local kaka and pay him Rs 50 or Rs. 100 depending on the number of bikes you want to park at his home (Rs 10 per bike is okay). Then either get a villager as guide or follow the white arrows into the forest. The forest does have wildlife and is in center of the meeting between Sanjay Gandhi National Park and Chinchoti Forest. So don't stray away from the arrows on stones or you will be lost. Take 2/3 torches along. A good trek and walk from the village into the forest will take you to a waterfall. Stones are sometimes slippery. Early morning in summer or do it in winter. In rain the insects will literally eat you rather than any panther/leopard. Beware of snakes not just on the ground but on the branches of trees that touch your shoulders while trekking.

Yes, adventure so close to home.

I am sorry, I could not locate this place despite your directions (also because I am new to Mumbai). I could locate Fountain hotel at the junction of 3 roads (W.E to Borivali,NH8 to Virar and Ghodbundher rd). Is it on Ghodbundher road? when you said take a right, Right when you are coming from Thane?

well, I don't really know what we Mean by a Biker's hangout???
one bad thing about being a biker in Delhi is...you never know when you may be HANG(ed)OUT of your life by some speed maniac.

ok..ok, that was for the lighter side of the conversation( were we really ????). I think a biker's hangout should have ....
                        1. plenty of free space to park the bike safely
                        2. a decent washroom to wash off the grim and dirt and the Smoke patches off the face.
                        3. some good seating arrangement.
                        4. some real good music playing at the back drop.
                        5. Good food and wonderful drinks( alcohol or no alcohol, suit yourself)
                        6. Some wonderful faces to beat the ride stress. ( and am not talking about anything beyond that!)

as per my opinion, The Xbhp Dhaba does not have too much out of the above 6, so I would not call it a Biker's hangout..or whatever, but owing to the fact that we dont have too much of an option, I still am more than glad to Meet My mates at That same old Dhaba! PIECE...I mean PEACE!!!!!

@ rockrider : Like I said in that post right on NH8. The village is near enough on the highway. Or simply ask some local about where Chinchoti village is. And NH8 can go much much beyond Virar.

                          hope that helps

If I build one that has all of the above, and sell decent draught at Rs150 a mug and an espresso at Rs50 a shot or a Cappuccino at Rs90 and so on... and you can sit there all day with good blues/jazz playing would you come there regularly and bring your friends along as well who will all consume something?
The Wheel was a great invention; Two Wheels with a Motor in between was even better!
