In such off-road conditions you'll surely benefit from oiled-foam .
About reduction of power - It may , but I doubt you'll notice it much other than a quietness of the air-intake noise ( k&N users construe that as reduced power ) . You only have to ensure that the filter fits well ( doesn't leak unfiltered air into the engine in any way ) and is of sufficient size ( filtering surface area ) to pass enough air to keep your engine happy . About the effect on mileage - i'm not sure .. but unlikely to affect much change .

btw what do you guys do with your old air filters? do you'll throw it or sell it to a mechanic who doesn't mind that its not spanking new and willing to use it after blowing some air? ** entrepreneurial spirit**

Well i usually leave it with the mechanic. But the selling idea is good though . But i dont think that one would be using a used (and mostly blocked) filter.

                        Doston,

I have a universal K&N Air Filter installed in my Honda Shine (2009), its only two months old, And it got very dirty. How can i get it cleaned at my home. I can not spent money to buy the cleaning kit for K&N. Please suggest me the simplest ways to clean it.

if your bike has an o2 sensor, it should be able to adjust to the new filter... but i am making a general statement. these days, ecu can measure the increased air flow by means of MAP sensor and intake temp sensor and calculate the fuel rate required. but as a thumb rule, if your bike has a O2 sensor, it should cope up fine...

ps: an O2 sensor is basically a Oxygen sensor. it is generally mounted on the exhaust port near to the exhaust valve or the silencer pipe. you can search for the sensor there... if you have doubts, please upload a pic of the exhaust area so that we can check it here
