  • HELP plz

    hello people
    an year ago i was about to purchase a P200 but due to some reasons the purchase got delayed & now i am planning to buy a bike in less then a week's margin & after lot of thinking have settled for P220dtsi[semi faired version] i need some quick responses guys plz help me . . . . .

    Q1.what to look & check for when taking a bike from showroom ??
    {as one of my friend told me that u have to choose a bike from the showroom's stock & i am layman in mechanics}

    Q2. Will my bike give me a trouble free ownership for next 4-5 years at least?

    Q3. whats the "actual" mileage of the bike as some owners claim 30-35kmpl
    & some go to the extent of 45-50kmpl.

    THE 1st QUESTION IS THE MOST IMPORTANT

    *was not knowing where to post it so MOD'S please move the topic to where it should be.

      At the cost of sounding biased, I would say Bajaj is not the first option to look at if your want trouble free, maintenance free use for 5 years. The newer gen bikes from Bajaj have improved a lot, but the life of the cycle parts and consistency of engine performace after first couple of years, is nowhere near that of, say a HOnda engine, IMHO.

      Questions 1&3, I will leave for others.

        Q2. Will my bike give me a trouble free ownership for next 4-5 years at least? No bike can give you that guarantee

        Q3. whats the "actual" mileage of the bike Depends on your riding style, how fast you ride, how much you rev it etc etc

          @need4torque
          bro i m not biased towards bajaj but this is the only bike that is fulfilling my requirements so there is no other option left.

            Q1..a long list appeared on this issue in this thread not very long ago. You can just search..Its of great help

            Q2. Trust what @AMG said....Even more true in case of Bajaj. But still three of the most important thing which a new P220 or any other bike owner can do is to
            (a)Get the bike serviced at recommended intervals (for P220 it is at 750km, 2000km, 5000, 10000...and so on)..Remember 1st service is of utmost important. At around 600-650 kms, get it done

            (b) Keep changing engine oil at an interval of ~2500 kms for sake of the health of the oil and thus engine itself. .(though first change must be done at time of 1st service).

            (c) Keep your speed limits as per given in the manual for the first 2000 kms. This initial run would define how your bike gonna perform ahead...do do not accelerate or de-accelerate hard.

            Q3. I have a semi faired P220 (the same that you will buy), and it running 39-40 kms per litre in city condition (BP's Speed). And I do not refrain myself from ripping it hard very frequently

            Xtra Advice- Faired version has got more powerful lamps than the semi faired one!!

            And go get a good helmet
            Happy riding..

              AFAIK
              All bikes are the same at the showroom.
              It is the care and the riding habits that make the difference.
