  • Used Pulsar 150 DTSi (2009)

    Hi guys!
I am Rajarshi, and am new to xBHP forum (new to the forum, not to the travelogues.. ). I am from Kolkata, and need some advice before I buy a bike.

Requirements: A bike, only for fun. I reside in a college campus, there is not much requirement for everyday travelling. My campus is 50km form the city, so maybe once a week, I will be going to Kolkata city. My friends have bikes, so I want a bike too.
I want a bike only for two years, as I will be going abroad in 2012 for higher studies. I will sell the bike in may-august 2012.

I am looking to buying a second hand bike, as a new sporty bike will cost me upward of 70k.

I have been offered a Pulsar 150 Dtsi at 47k. The details are as follows:
Purchased: 19th August 2009 (single hand)
    KM done: about 10k
Body condition: Excellent (as far as I could see atleast)
Reason for sale: Owner moving out of town, to diff state.
Lifetime tax paid, One year insurance done (expires in Aug 2011)

I rode the bike, but myself being a novice, I can't say much about the engine and all. The bike gives a sweet sound, and doesn't emit any smoke or such.

However, the renewed insurance papers doesn't give No-claim bonus. Does it necessarily mean that insurance was claimed?

Is the price of 47K okay for this bike?

What all should I see before buying the bike? Any check list I need to be aware of?

At 47K it's not at all costly. I would say it's a steal since P150s are having good resale value.

Bike looks to be in pretty good condition.. 47k is a good deal considering bike is just an year old.. new P150 costs around 75k.. so 47k is almost 40% less than the original price... so I would say, it's a damn good deal... go for it.

Price seems to be just right by calculating depreciation value for 1-year-old bike.

                    P150 costs 61k (ex-showroom) & 68k on road here in Delhi..
                    Ex-showroom price - 61,605/-
                    RTO amount - 5,024/-
                    Insurance - 1,635/-
                    total - 68,264/- OTR price..

depreciation should be on its ex-showroom price..that's why for me 47k is on a higher side.

Bro, the guy is in Kolkata.. not in NCR(national capital region), where prices are atleast 10% less compared to other areas.. you guys have advantage in tax rates.. in bangalore new P150 is around 75k.. so the offer price is a steal.. as it counts 40% as depreciation.. normally 20-30% is what people quote for one year old bike as depreciation.
