I'm planning to buy a bike in a month's time. Have been utterly confused between the Pulsar 180 and the CB Unicorn Dazzler.
Here're some factors which usually influence a bike purchase decision:
My daily office travel is about 9+9 kms in Delhi
Not a worry for me if my bike gives me an average of at least 45kmpl
My girlfriend lives 40kms away in greater noida. Of those 40 kms, almost 30 of which is part of expressways which I would generally like to eat up as fast as I can. (My friend's avenger at 90kph makes quite the racket, hence I'm pre-dispositioned to a higher cc/bhp bike)
My gf likes the P180's looks better (yeah, i know.. why am i even confused then, eh?)
Since I'm somewhat drawn towards the 180 already, here're a few queries:
Handling:
1. How does the new one with the elliptical swingarm and the fatter tyres brake? I've ridden only the 150's (that too, DTSi ver. 1 and UG2) and they have been horrendous under braking. I know the unicorn's are brilliant under braking.
2. High speed stability? I believe the only time i'd be exposed to my bike's weaknesses is in those longer runs since in city traffic, most modern bikes (upwards of 150cc) are generally unproblematic.
Refinement:
Ok, so comparing Honda and Bajaj is a bad idea, but still. How're the Pulsar engines doing now? From the bikes i've seen my friends owning, they start losing their refinement a few month's down the line. I'm usually compulsive about the gadgets I own so I think i'd be very particular about the service schedules and riding techniques to ensure things dont go bad.
Comfort:
Does the sportier stance of the 180 make it less favourable for long rides? Does the dazzler too have a similiar stance? I know the unicorn with the higher handle bars was a breeze to ride in both city and on the highways.
The sole reason why I'm even considering the Dazzler is because of the quality and the handling that I've seen in the Unicorn. However, I am wary of the fact that it would *probably* considerably underperform on a stretch of 25kms of flat expressway when compared to the P180. My only worries with the 180 is the handling and the quality/life issue for which i need some input from you guys, preferably owners.
Thanks! and sorry for the long post.
