  • Need help buying a bike

    Guys,

I am planning to buy a bike by next month.

I have zeroed down Pulsar 180/220, Yamaha Fazer and Karizma-R.

The reason i have selected these bikes is because of my height which is 6.1.

My budget is around 81k , can go upto 85 k.

    Please assist.

    Thanks and Regards,

    Pratheek Kunder

i am planning to eat something.
        i am 5 feet 11.
my budget is around 50 but can be stretched to 70.
my choices are cheese sadnwich, daal roti and burger.
        please advice.

oh you noticed, i did not mention how hungry i am.

and i noticed you did not mention what kind of biker you are. exit the corner faster than you entered types or soaking the scenery not a hurry in the world types.

        please mention that.
        thanks.

I would say, go and test ride all the bikes you have in your mind.
If your friends have them, test ride them because then you can try them for a longer stretch.
If not you can always go for test rides given by showrooms.
Then, you yourself will come to know what kind of bike you will be comfortable at.
Trust me it is better to be practical than going with your heart.

I always wanted to buy Karizma since it was launched.
But when time came to buy a bike, I had 2 alternatives. R15 & P220.

R15 looked stunningly beautiful & P220 was driving crazy for her top speed & acceleration.
Those 4 months I read each n every post for all the 3 bikes.
Then I went for a test ride & I realized, Karizma is best suited bike a lazy buff like me. Just sit & pull.

I must say, I chose Karizma because of riding posture only. For long run, it does matter.
For a person having long heights, (like you n I), better to avoid P220.
Because, its fairing causes trouble to you knees.
R15 riding position is super sporty, you will have to lean all the time while riding her.

Bottom line is, go test ride those bikes.
I am sure then, this thread wont be running anymore.

            @ pratheek

I would say that leave out the fazer as you are tall, and it will be cramped for you.

I would recommend you go for Karizma R.

                One more point,
For Karizma you might have to stretch your budget up to 90K.
It cost me 88K here in bangalore 4 months back.
                No idea about Mumbai pricing.

Karizma will be a good choice undoubtedly.

                  @krish.
i have checked with my dealer in vasai, they say that i need to wait for 3-4 mnths for Karizma -r as there is strike going on with hero honda factory(stupid guy!!)and if i get a bike from mumbai, it would cost me extra 3-5 k as octroi.
The best thing is they had 3 ZMR in stock, and yu wont believe the price they told me " 1.47 lakh".
I asked the reason why is it so expensive, they were like we will get it from other dealers..anyways i cant go for a bike which crosses 1 lakh mark and i cant wait for 3-4 mnths for Karizma R

i would be going to test p220 this weekend.
I have checked reviews about p220, all i can hear waS " awesome power, great performance" ( i loved those reviews)
but as you said that fairing would be a prob for me, just want to know would it be really uncomfortable for me??
coz to be honest, my heart is on p220 black...

I own a P220 F and I too am over 6' 1", never had a problem in riding the P20, yes its not as good as the Karizma, but mind you that is only in comfort for long rides and that is it, rest everywhere the P220 takes over.
As for the Legs touching the fairing, mine did touch initially but now they dont, just had to get use to it. I have a friend who is over 6' 5" tall and he is also very happy with his P220 F.
Baseline, if you wish for the karizma then get it, else dont worry about the P220 F, you will live happily ever after, unless you are like me, never happy with just 21 bhp.

If fairing touching legs is a problem for you in P220F, you can also test ride P220S. The naked beast of P220. I am sure you will be liking it.

ZMA-R will be another good choice. I am not sure about R15, you have to check it out whether you are comfortable riding it or not.

Dealers are always smart enough to make more bucks telling such craps.
All you need to do is go and check different dealers out.

                        About P220,
It will depend on your riding style.
I have always ridden bikes with completely clinging them.
It's my way of riding bike & it caused me the knee trouble.

I am sure after riding P220, your confusion will double between Karizma & P220 atleast.
Hope you end up buying right bike.

Now, when I look at my girl, I feel so much satisfied to have bought her.
Sometimes, you have to listen to your heart.
