OK !!! I have wasted all of the last season here in Dushanbe and still have practically gone in and bought the megelli 250 R only to have that the dealer had a major transport breakdown and the delivery got delayed.

call me stupid but i could not hold on any longer and went on to buy a 1998 Yamaha xjr 400. now i want to share everything about this bike and my experience with life of a biker with Indian soul thrown into CIS and the biking scene here.

going to publish some snaps here. will be bringing this great piece of machinery from its present sad state to bat shit crazy tuning.

purpose is channeling into all your folks experience to make the most of it,

thanks in advance to all the responses and suggestions. cheers!

          You bought it still?
          I am quoting motorcycle.com here
"It’s too bad that all that pretty plastic is brittle.""The 250R’s undertail muffler makes big noises. It is stamped EPA-legal, but we were still wondering how it got through."
These lines kind of got to me
But for 1.2L its a steal!

so I have posted some pics of the bike and of the city in the background as well. I am planning to come to India in a week or so and plan to get some parts to upgrade the bike if possible. I plan to upgrade the suspension, atleast the rear one. kindly advise what can be a proper fit. if there are any gas shocks suitable, the better. the brakes are brembo, I was wondering if pads are available there. well the full list is :

              1. tyres front and rear. right now the bike is having tubeless steel radials from dunlop.
              2. brake pads : brembo twin calipers double disc front single rear
              3. front fender
              4. rear gas filled shocks.

all and any help is highly appreciated.

bike has done nearly 30 k or so the odo shows. the engine seems fine and in general most of the bike is in stock condition. there is a minor oil leak from around the left casing around the generator / starter area. front brakes are super but the rear brakes sometimes lead to a some skidding and get locked easily. the bike does 0-100 in some 5-6 seconds is my guess. after 7 k the vibration is suddenly all over the place and have not yet taken the bike above 120 kms per hour. still getting used to it and the weather has been rainy all along this time as well. other wise the condition is tip top. bikes in this region are used for about 4-6 months a year and then again not for commuting. the bike feels like it will definitely go 150 and above. maybe on a sunny day i will take her on the freeway. The experience of riding an inline four with an upright riding position is just mind blowing. will write in detail about my experience. hope this is the right place for it.

well thank you for the positive comment. the only downside is the lack of good mechanics and the availability of spare parts for this bike. so planning to source from india. I will be staying in Gurgaon and plan to get the seat done from somebody in Karolbagh. right now the seat is done with real leather and hope to get an upgrade with the same materials maybe different colors. my basic concern is the suspension. so really looking forward to get it changed.

about the city I am going to upload some more snaps. the place has stunning surroundings.
