Better go for Bajaj Platina,It has got Mileage,Cheap Spares,Longer life but for servicing you will have to be firm with the service centre guys.

        My criteria is as follows:-
        - mileage -Bajaj & hero honda both are good here
        - less maintenance -The hero honda will lead here by a large margin
        - longer life -Again Hero Honda will win
        - cheap spares and servicing -The bajaj is the clear winner. Its spares & servicing costs are dead cheap.
anything you guys can help me with.
Comments in bold. I have given the most simplest form of comparision. If engine with long life is your priority then HH & if engine with a lower running costs & better mileage figures is your requirement then anyday the bajaj.

            - less maintenance Hero Honda anyday
            - longer life Hero Honda
            - cheap spares and servicingBajaj leads here with a small margin considering that commuter bikes are being discussed.

As you have mentioned that it is for staff, go for most practical bike (acc to your criteria), passion. Beleive me, my dad's '06 passion has been used in worst of the conditions, used by many different people, crashed a few times, and still if I want to make it brand new, I give it to the SVC for general service along with body wash and it is back to perfect again for less than 200 Rs.

But there are also some guys who have maintained their decade old bajajs in mint condition.
From variable Bhps to a constant 17.6 Bhp.

              - less maintenance less maintenance, HH wins almost it needs no maintenance
              - longer life For Sure Herohonda
              - cheap spares and servicing Bajaj wins
anything you guys can help me with.

                  @ topic starter

bajaj platina will be cheap to own on a 5 year time period with low initial cost, low cost of spares.

the hero honda passion/splendor will be more of a peace of mind to own during the same period with lower/ negligible breakdowns.

but however, sinceyou are purely asking this for business (low total cost of ownership) , bajaj is better.

if you include employee satisfaction into the account, the hero honda is anyday better and a more sensible option. the employees will also appreciate your acring attitude (pun intended )

My take: Go for what the office staff wants. If you buy anything else, they will surely not be happy and if they are not happy, they may not take proper care of it (and more people here will get a chance to say that Bajaj is unreliable and breaks down frequently )

so HH seems to be the preferred choice. Passion seems to be the staff favorite (reason i fail to understand) so do i opt for it or go for splendor or dawn?

Its better that you ask the employees to chose one bike.. They will then be proud to work in an organisation that respects their views.

Better to go with the splendor pro.

Just a question to you. Why are you only considering just HH & bajaj? Why not suzuki, yamaha, honda & TVS?? Even they have very good low maintanence & fuel efficient bikes??

simply cause HH & Bajaj seems to be the pioneers in what they do, specially HH who is the best and has the widest option in the category i, the buyer, is interested. though, obviously, nothing against any bike or brand.

I have shortlisted to Discover, Passion & Splendor would leave the rest on them. any other views, suggestions are most welcome

did you checked the suzuki slingshot? Its a good bike at the cost of 100 cc you get a 125 cc with lot of add on features.
