  • best used 150cc bike

    Hi All,

I am using RX100 for the past twelve years. I am considering to buy a used 150cc 4-stroke bike for commuting longer distances (my RX100 mileage is 30kmpl).

Please recommend a reliable 150cc bike which gives mileage at least 48-50 kmpl. I want a bike that lasts long. My budget is 35K.

    Thanks,
    Suresh

Unicorn is my personal favorite among 150 cc.

its almost 15yrs i have been using an RX i got an 88 model well maintained and still strong its difficult to part away the bike,i also had a bit similiar prob then for daily riding and mileage,i bought a splendor got it for 20 thousand used it for 6mths sold the splendor and bought an Activa more relaxed scooter without gears quite good for city ride and also comfortable after that i concenterated more on the RX and also managed to rebuild it,now i only use it on a sunday ride,if u are interested in motorcycle there's a wide choice of bikes today in consern with average but i felt let's go for a relaxed cool ride no worries of changing gears rest is one's personal choice

Some of my friends suggested to go for Yamaha or Honda bikes as they are high on quality.

I want to keep RX100 for shorter rides and 4-stroke for longer rides

@TS: IMO, Unicorn would suit you requirement the best!

It has a good fuel efficiency and has a super smooth, reliable engine; U may also consider the HH CBZ extreme, though the fuel efficiency might be a bit less compared to the Unicorn.

Well, it would largely depend on the bikes condition; however, it would be more or less around your budget.

Unicorn's the way to go. Otherwise, you can go for the earlier DTSi models of the Pulsar.

Unicorn has a high resale value comparatively. I have not seen one go for lesser than 50-60% of its cost. So expect a cost of 35K onwards, open to negotiations of course.
The ones i saw on sale were all within 5 yrs of their mfg date though.

It's completely value for money. The frame, the engine and ride quality all stay good with time.

Other used 150cc bikes i have seen go for ~20K (let's say 8 yrs old?) and they pretty much fall apart after every 1000 Km. These would be the old CBZs, Pulsars etc...

Unicorn or CBZ xtreme. These are the best bikes you'll find in that segment or price point. Try to look for a uni with Alloys and self.

PS: If you can find any low odo HH achiever, go for it because it has the same Uni engine and suffered from pathetic resale.
What do I intend to do? Stuff ZMR drivetrain into an Ambition chassis and watch others run scared!

                      Thanks for all.

I am looking for Unicorn and CBZ-Extreme's.
Added HH Acheiver in the list, look like Achiever is not that much popular.

Guru_DTSi@ does earlier DTSi Pulsar's are good?

I wouldn't go for Pulser unless you are getting quite a deal(i.e. quite new, very well maintained). I bought 1 year old Unicorn for 45k, I think you can find ~2-3 year old UNI for <40k easily. Best option IMO.
