I have TBTS & have ridden classic 350 also.....If your planning to ride in city as well as highways i prefer cl350 but if your using for highway TBTS is the way to go. I personally have done 400kms in a 12 hrs. There ain't no devil, ther'e just God when he's drunk.

Your brother is absolutley correct... 350 classic has just 19bhp power as per RE website CBR 250 R I own (Honda) pumps out 25bhp with a 249.9cc mill ... RE is just going forward with legacy and some fan club no offence meant but this is a factOriginally posted by vkcage View PostThanks guys, you have no idea how much relief it is to know am not the only one!! showroom guys told me the waiting list now for all the RE bikes are almost same so i guess there is not much to choose from in that front.
Yesterday was having a little discussion (more like an argument) with my brother regarding which bike to go for. Though at the end i rubbished all his comments saying it was just silly (am bigger you know
) but something he told me did strike me and is still lingering on in my head, so thought i will put it here.
His point was apart from bigger engine and the name and legacy of RE and looks to some extent, RE bikes have nothing going for them in terms of performance, reliability, and features and do not justify its reputation. There is a false hype created around RE by the fans of RE. People who own RE bikes are RE fanatics and believe all its shortcomings as the character of the bike and learn to live with it (and even appreciate it). Comments you get about an RE are like "A bullet is a bullet" or "nothing can be compared to it," and so on. Fans of bullet put it in a completely different league making it the only one running in that race and it is obvious to come first.
On the other hand, the owners of bajaj or HH or other jap models have options to chose from, intensifying the competition between these models and forcing the manufacturer to improve quality.
So guys, what you think?
(btw he is a fan of avenger)

Re: Thunderbird or Cl350
Reviving an old thread but I am currently looking for a new bike and have so far shortlisted around 20 bikes, lol.
Just kidding coz I have been looking at all kinds of bikes from CBR to RS200 to Gixxer SF etc etc.
I am now confused only between a Royal Enfield (RE) Classic 350 (CL350) and a Thunderbird 350 (TBTS350).
RE bikes are available on spot delivery or at the most 1 week of waiting for all models except the standard bullet. So that adds to my confusion as I can not book first and then have months for thinking.
I am listing a few Pros and Cons of both models as per my own personal opinion.
Classic 350 [appealed to Heart]
Pros:
- Longer and shorter so looks so much more beautiful.
- Beautiful colours in Classic, esp Ash and Tan (only in 500cc but I guess 350 can be repainted to that).
- Classic looks more beautiful than TBTS.
- Less tech so cheaper to maintain. Price of headlight, speedo console etc.
Cons:
- No rear disc brakes. Braking felt bad after driving a thunderbird.
- "Bouncy" front seat. Felt like a deal breaker. Can be changed to TBTS seat?
- Less gadgetry. No tacho, no MID.
- Seating position felt bit awkward to me. (I am 6' tall, 85+Kg). Maybe installing handlebar of TBTS will solve that?
- Smaller fuel tank (13.5 litres)
Thunderbird 350 [Appealed to head]
Pros:
- Better front seat, better handle, better seating position (personal).
- Rear disc brake. Felt so good to apply rear brakes on a TBTS.
- Bigger fuel tank (20 liters) so more range per tankful of fuel.
- Rear LED lights look so elegant.
- More gadgets in speedo console.
Cons:
- Taller, shorter in length. Doesn't look as beautiful and heart captivating as a Classic.
Summary is that CL350 looks more beautiful while TBTS felt more comfortable and has better brakes too.
Can you guys please help with your inputs. And please answer the following queries as well> Thanks in advance.
1. Can TBTS seat and handlebar be fitted on a CL and will that give 'almost' similar comfort as a TBTS?
2. Possible to repaint a CL350 Ash colour to the Tan colour of CL500 giving exact, good finish? Or is painting not recommended but rather body parts should be replaced?FIAT-Yamaha enthusiast
