  • Help guyz ..RE CL500 vs CL350 Vs Zma dilemma

    Hello everyone ,
I've been thinking about buying the 500 for some time now. Initially had made up my mind and had almost booked cl350 last month but some friends told me to wait and stretch my budget and go for the Cl500. Keeping the following things in mind please suggest what would be a better buy or should i drop the idea of buying an RE altogether and go for Karizma maybe-
    1. Usage-> Mostly city, Daily run 20 kms, 50-100km(Hills) once every two weeks. 200-300km(Highway) once every two months.
    2. Reliability and maintenance -> I have no qualms about taking the bike to the mechanic once or twice a month or even more but i don't want something that would break down when am getting late for work.
    3. Me-> I normally drive at 60 .. sometimes i cant help but give it a ripping. I am 5 ft 10 , average built.
    4. If it has to be CL500 is it really worth the price? CL 350 was on the upper limits of my budget .. CL500 would further stretch it.
    5. I am looking for a faithful ride , i plan to keep it for as long as possible.
    6. Mileage is not too much of a problem but would be of help if some owners can mention it here.

Your opinions will be highly appreciated .
    Thanks in advance
    Abhishek

I see Karizma as an overall better bike by far than any bullet till date, including the Classics.

First few quick points, Karizma is overall more reliable than even the new Classics. Its much smoother, it will breeze happily at 100kph that even CL500 will find hard to match! Overall seating position is more comfortable on Karizma than the bullets. I have the CL500 seats on my Electra and I can tell you that the only good thing about it is looks!! Comfort is almost zero! I have also owned a Karizma previously for 5 years

Handling, again, Karizma scores heavily here against the bullets! The clutch is lighter, it even has better brakes! And its definitely easier to handle in traffic. Do I even need to mention the highway capabilities of the Karizma? We know how good it is!

CL500 is no doubt very powerful, and it will be quicker to 100 than the Karizma. But then it's the only advantage I see of CL500 over Karizma. Otherwise, Karizma is anytime more preferred over any bullet. Not to mention, overall ride quality of Karizma is far superior. Its much cheaper than both the Classics, is easier to maintain as well. I just hope you are not after the so called thump of the bullet!! That shouldn't be the reason for it

My take Karizma, purely on my experience Take the test rides, I am sure you'll agree!

yes ZMA is a great bike but then a Bullet is a Bullet and nothing can be compared to it... A bullet will last longer then any ZMA or ZMR...A bullet is like Rajnikant...getting older but still hotter

DO test ride both the bikes & then decide coz i was planning to buy p220 but after test riding the TBTS i changed my mind & booked it the same day .

What is the crusing speed of a CL350 and a CL500?

I dont have a classic350 but since the TBTS & cl350 have same engines, TBTS can cruise @ 70-85kmph ....above that the vibrations would be a problem.

Thanks for your inputs everyone . I am going day after tomorrow for a test drive that will help me decide i guess. Could someone throw some more light on the factors that i mentioned in the starting post (read reliability ..definitely cannot afford a machine that would break down on my way to work) , specially the fi unit , have'nt heard great things about it. Any advice will be greatly appreciated. I am already in love with the classics i guess, i just need some reassurances that i can go ahead and buy .
@Sattelite.kid can some extra cushioning be done .. or maybe electra's seat could be setup ??

LOL yeah thats true a bullet is any time or all time best but ZMA is diffrent

go for either 350cc or 500cc but dont bring ZMA here because both are from diffrent world and should not be compared in the same table.

Thats exactly what I want to say. Your dilemma is a dilemma in itself as you are comparing completely different bikes. For starters, comparison between a 223cc, 350cc & 500cc engines is a dilemma. Then, ZMA & Bullet are 2 bikes belonging to completely different categories. Anyways I would suggest the ZMA. You can also look at the ZMR.

Thank you guys for the continuous inputs . Perhaps there is some misinterpretation, although i tried to make it pretty clear, still i would reiterate. Karizma is a fallback or a plan B , its not in the picture unless i rule out bullets completely. As i mentioned before i am not very sure how reliable the bulls are .. please read my point regarding reliability. And i had made up my mind to go for the CL350 until my friends coaxed me into saving for a few months and going for the 500. Unfortunately , in the last month i read some stuff , some posts here and some reviews elsewhere that suggested CL500 has got some issues and since 1.40 is not a small amount for me , i want to be pretty sure before i go and book it . ANd as mentioned before i am ok with minor niggles , but cant afford a bike that would breakdown on my way to work. By the way i have my test ride due this evening, more on this after i get it .
                      Regards

I took a test ride, but it was a very short one and its wasnt much help, i guess ill have to trust the ownership experiences because none of my friends own a cl500/cl350.

both bikes belonging to different leagues and both are good.

but still being a karizma owner i will suggest you a karizma only as it will offer more peace of mind as compared to a bullet.

Yep that's true. No monthly trips...... to the service center that is. If you want peace of mind, go for the ZMA.

Go for a Karizma any day....
I own a ZMR and can say that it is the best bike i have seen till date.

No doubt the bulls have their own thump and the feel, but as you need reliability, then go for a HH bike any day...

HH has been reliable and more efficient as compared to any other Indian bike maker

Karizma has the comfort and the smoothness that Bullet cannot give.

My personal opinion... go for a Karzima....!!!!!
