  • Help needed in Buying my first bike

    Hi Guyz,
I've just learnt how to ride a bike. I have been learning to ride on a bajaj boxer. Now I've decided to buy my own bike..

Daily commuting distance would be around 40kms back and forth. I would like to have a bike which has the following
    1) good mileage
    2) Good power and handling.
    3) Good ride quality and above all VFM.

I personally like the Honda Unicorn , twister and the GS150R.

    Plz help me guyz ...

What is your budget? that's the first thing always comes in mind of us when we go for bikes.

from your list of Unicorn, Twister and GS150R, my suggestion would b Honda Unicorn (not the Dazzler, previous version), Very stable bike, Honda Engine, tested product in market.
1). Good Mileage :- will give you approx mileage of 50-60.
2). Good Power and Handling :- Do doubt in handling, perfect one. good tourque.
3). Good Ride Quality and VFM :- Awesme ride quality, comfort seating no back pain, and Unicorn is really a VFM product.

Dont known abt Suzuki GS150R, u can ask any member who has it.
Replace the words "I have to" with "I choose to" and notice the difference in how you feel.

I brought GSR last month and it is a good bike. If you have trust on suzuki then go for GSR, it wont disappoint you... and Unicorn is having very long waiting list .

my budget is max upto 60k mark. i dont think any 150cc bikes would come in this budget except for the new yamaha bike sz-x..
Also i heard that the GS150R is a very heavy bike.

                Any more suggestions are welcome....

Comparing to other 150cc gs some what 5 or 6 kg more but that helps me in gaining grip and stability .

Do a testdrive on all your shortlisted bikes and decide

Test drive should be atleast 3 or 4 kms

This might sound silly but just wanted to know how would it be to handle a heavy bike like the pulsars and the gs150rs considering the fact that i've learnt to ride on a much lighter bike boxer.....

Once the Bike is in Motion, you will not even realize the weight.
It's the tight traffics and those small turns and twisties wherein you will feel lil about the weight of the Bike.

For all your requirments, Unicorn fits the bill perfectly.
(personal experience of over 6 years with Unicorn)

But your Budget is low for Unicorn.
Check out the SZ-x(the new yamaha 150cc commuter). heard that it's a nice bike.

Yamaha SZ-x is a 150cc bike with lesser weight when compared to Pulsers,GSR and Unicorn. I test driven sz-x, it is a good bike and easy to handle but it misses most of the luxeries (Digital speedo, RPM indicator,Disc brakes,etc..)
If you wont mind above then there is no need to worry in choosing SZ-x because its a FZ engine only just de-tuned it for mileage .

before GS i was been using HH Splendor which is small and too light (comparing to GS or Unicorn)

as said by sherry you will feel the weight at low speed and initial start till it gains thrust.

but one more issue for you is the budget either you need to increase it or settle for the budget 150cc's such as yamaha SZ or Bajaj discoverer 150cc

You can go for the Pulsar 135LS. Its a good bike with superb handling, performance comparable to 150CC's and very good mileage. Its also fits your budget.

max i can increase it is till 65k.....not more than that.. i dont wanna buy the pulsar 135 as pulsars r very common nowadays ..and also the ride is quite bumpy when it comes to pulsar....

Regarding unicorn. are u talking abt the dazzler or the old unicorn ....
