  • Yamaha FZ16 2010 or 2011?

    Hello everyone.
I'm planning to buy the Yamaha FZ16 in the next few weeks.
But as companies tend to come out with some new changes(merely cosmetic or otherwise) for their existing models in the beginning of a new year, would it be advisable to wait until 2011?
More importantly, are any such plans on the anvil by Yamaha for the FZ16?
    Thank you.

You get 2011 mfg date on automobiles hitting the showrooms only during Feb 2011 or more, until then, its all the ones manufactured until 2010 Dec.

        Thanks for your reply.
So does that mean I need to wait until feb2011 to find out whether yamaha plans to make any aforementioned changes?
Isn't there a press release from yamaha or any such other medium to answer this query; even the yamaha dealer near my residence can't confidently answer me.

          dealers may not know

yes, yamaha dealers may not know the new releases this much in prior so you have to go by your luck, but as per my suggestion, don't wait till that long, yamaha already launched SZ-S recently so they may not do much on FZ in near future and yamaha doesn't do too frequent updates (according to history atleast) since you like FZ go for it buddy. wait is not worth the time you'll lose to enjoy on the bike.

Its pointless to wait for only visual upgrades besides it would be hard to know if anything of tht sort is even coming because it isn't such...well a big deal.
if its diff. paint jobs that you are expecting just get the FZ now and get a paint job done of your own...wont cost that much.

doesnt seem to be any upgrades for the FZ!

it doesn't seem that the FZ series from YAMAHA are going to get any kind of upgrades! maybe they will try some cosmetic changes and try to catch the eyes of the youth nothing performance wise i suppose! if there was any kind of bigger FZ (a little bigger than the 150 and far less than the 1000) to be released or speculated it would have been all over the forums and all so better go ahead with the bike (if you think you wont regret your decision)

Dude...yamaha has not changed the Fz since its launch...only performance upgrade goodies (the track goodies package) was added for additional price....

anything that they have changed since then its been the look ...if u really crave for the different look then wait ...otherwise no point in waiting...they will just intro a new colour scheme in limited edition which will soon be on every street corner...

my 2 cents...no point in waiting....

Erm... if i am, not wrong... FZ 16 doesnot have flaming orange as standard colour anymore. Yamaha only provides Red and Black in the Current 2010 series. The only Major changes in FZ'10 compared to previous models was:

                    1) In the earlier FZ model speedo console's backlight used to be ON irrespective of whether you had kept the parking and low/high beam switch on/off. The newer model has the option of keeping the backlight of the console OFF which is turned on only when the switch if put to parking lights or low/high beam mode.

                    2) Performance upgrades as mentioned by k2cool_87

                    3) Seat is bit different from the original model.

Besides that there is no news of FZ with higher engine capacity or with any major changes.

Yamaha has made almost 70% of the outer shell of the bike including the tank completely plastic... so incase an inevitable crash does occur, you simply replace the plastic shells than doing dent and paint work on your bike.

So if they do come out with a new colour option in 2011, all you need to do is to purchase the outer plastic shells from a yamaha SVC and replace the them with whatever colour of your bike may have. cost is roughly 3k

Don't worry just go and buy the current series of FZ, you won't regret it
                    Hope this helps

                    Cheers

Definitely not from Yamaha colour schemes... looks like a custom paint job. I guess enquiring in and around shops should help you out.

that was a limited edition of the FZ released over a year ago.
couple of months ago, they released another limited edition (black and gold) (i got one )
judging by the pattern, it would probably take a year for them to come up with another of the limited editions.

no point in waiting. go ahead and book your bike.

ya sure i am going to book my fz16 in next month...and if you got any information,i have heard from many people that Yamaha service center allows us to change the body panel on fz16,i means we can tell them to change the body color which we like(colors which are available with SVC) by giving some 2k-3k extra...is that true??
