  • Wanna zero in on a bike...

    Hi,

I have read through the posts on choosing bikes, but couldn't find something that compares the ones I am looking at. So, here's the bikes I am thinking of:

    1. R15 - New, gorgeous, I have no idea about it's performance...please tell me?

    2. FZ16 - New, Wow!, Again....I have no idea about the performance part.

    3. Pulsar 200 - Tried and tested, Looks good, performace is known.

    4. Avenger - CRUISER, good looks, reviews???

You might be able to understand my comparing the first 3 but where does 4th one fit in?.....well, I am not a seasoned rider. I have ridden the old Pulsar 150s and Yamahas and left that about 3 years ago. But my desire to own a bike has never gone and so I am planning to buy 1 now. I am looking forward to buy a bike that performs well (maybe for a long ride once a month) and I can go for general city ride if required. I don't want to hit hard, so I was thinking of the cruiser, but there are none except avenger that come to the mind (I am not looking at bullets as I won't suite on them ). I was planning to zero in on FZ16 as it looks more muscular than the R15 (I find it a little small) but then thought of getting myself registered on xBHP and ask the pros .

My simple deciding points will be, performace and ease of use (which bike would give the most relaxing feeling when ridden).

    Please suggest!!!

    Thanks
    Varun

Just see which bike is more comfortable to you. I think FZ 15 fits you the most. It has performance to shut any 150 cc machine and has the looks. And also both the Yamahas are way better build than the Bajajs.
Never upgrade without getting your basics RIGHT.

My answer: HH Zma or if you are looking at 150s the fz16 or unicorn.

              1. R15 - New, gorgeous, I have no idea about it's performance...please tell me?
Pros:Mind boggling performance for an Indian Bike.
Cons: Idiotic Yamaha Service and lack of spare parts if you live anywhere outside of Metropolitan cities.

              2. FZ16 - New, Wow!, Again....I have no idea about the performance part.
              Pros:Looks,Yamaha build quality.Good for posing.
Cons: Fat tyres would probably ruin economy. Not the most practical.Idiotic Yamaha Service and lack of spare parts if you live anywhere outside of Metropolitan cities.

              3. Pulsar 200 - Tried and tested, Looks good, performace is known.
              Pros:Looks,'cruisability' factor,good ol classic Bajaj grunt,comfort.
Cons: Dont know what will happen when it crosses the 10k mark.

              4. Avenger - CRUISER, good looks, reviews???
              Pros:Engine upgrade.VFM cruiser,comfortable.
              Cons:
Dont know what will happen when it crosses the 10k mark.

P200 is the best bike .. you can go touring or city riding ..
you kust have to affort the millege .. but since you have considered R15 then P200 is not a prob
                P200 is my vote

acc. to what I read from forum ,it is like this :
ZMA - for cruising and city ride..(I am tempted to mention RE bullet reason ki I sold out my p180 for the same reason )
                  Unicorn- second option
                  RTR- city ride
                  P-series - city "dragging"
yamaha new bikes - not familiarized yet 8)

Don't consider the bullet, but you can consider Thunderbird(Isn't it supposed to be a "REAL" cruiser)

                      Performance - R15
                      Ease of use - FZ16
Relaxed feel (from engine POV) while riding - R15
Relaxed feel (from posture POV) while riding - ZMA/Unicorn (Bike not in your list)

First sort out what do you really want from your bike!

^^Are u not forgetting the RTR as far as performance is concerned ? I had a test ride on the RTR EFi and was blown away by its performance.

Yea well the RTR performance you can get from the R15 (Almost ), but the comfort of the ZMA/Unicorn you can't so had to include that forcibly!
