on performance side my vote goes to RTR180
but for overall package i'd recommend p180....

mind you p180 does ask for occasional serious sortings every 6 mnths or so....
telling from my personal experience with my p180(currently at bajaj servicing center for changing piston)

I would rather shoot for P220 and call it a day.

As we know rtr 180 use the same gearbox as rtr160 and this gearbox was designed for handling the power of rtr 160 so engine of 180 is overstressed always .So it is better you buy 220s
        .
RTR 180 has heavier bar end weights and several damping solutions in place compared to the 160 which lessens the vibrations. No guy has experienced overheating of engine due to vibrations till date.180 vibrates between 5k-6.5k rpm only, above that the ride becomes smooth. The vibrations you are talking about here when you down shift gear is due to engine braking. And the engine of RTR 160/180 is not overstressed as you say. These bikes sport an oversquare engine which produce more torque at lower rpm's,hence the 'vibrations'.

        @Thread starter:
Pulsar180 does everything well for the average joe and is similarily specced as the RTR 180.It's good for city riding as well as stable on highyways. It also boasts better ride quality than RTR and is comfortable over long distances.
RTR180's focus is mainly on fun.The steering is quick and has smaller turning radius than P180.The bike sticks to its line & is far easier to tip in to succesive corners than .Build quality, fit & finish is a few notches up compared to P180.It has got enormous amount of torque in each & every gear.
It's upto you now which one to buy.

My vote would go for the RTR180, it s a really mean machine, it s like still fresh in the scene and yet has proven itself as opposed to the old warhorse P180. The P180 has been around for ages now and has evolved/changed/devolved into something that itself does not recognise anymore. And it is so very common as well. And then you have the pulsar siblings as well 135,150,220 almost looking the same. Absoulutely no exclusivity. Whereas an angel white RTR180 grabs ones attention and keeps it there. Go for the RTR 180. It s more powerful and lighter than the P180 giving it the power to weight advantage as well.

The P180UG4 lacks grunt in the low end but is more refined than the RTR180. But I suggest you get the RTR180 for the pure fun it guarantees. The Adrenaline rush one gets when the RTR revs through the gears all the way to the redline is freakin awesome.
The advantage of getting a Pulsar is really really cheap spare parts. The cost of maintaining the Pulsar is very less. Over the years bajaj surely has worked a lot on Quality. Things aren't as bad as they were in the classic days. The situation now is totally different.

Even if you are tall, do NOT rule out the apache because of its size. It is more comfortable for single rider.

If UG3 was still available, then I'd have asked you to get that. But its not. So A180 it is!

                          rtr180 vs karizma vs p180

                          @ all
I have also included karizma in my list because of its road presence, smoothness n refinement but all my friends say it is low on feature list as compared to bikes like rtr180 and p220 and it is quite heavy on pocket due its mileage and maintainence cost (like its spares r very expensive) but i guess it will b hassle free then other bikes as its hero honda and it will not require spares very often in front of rtr n pulsars...
please put some lite on its pros and cons also

The zma is way better than rtr 180 and p180,one of the smoothest engine among Indian bikes, but heard that there is a long waiting period for the spare availability.check out with ur dealers/friends owing zma.our fellow xbhpian had to wait for more than 3 months for fairing of his zmr.The spares are expensive so u should take good care of ur bike.
