    The Wheel was a great invention; Two Wheels with a Motor in between was even better!

      Hi,

      First of all, welcome to xbhp.

      P220 and FZ are completely different bikes. So its kinda difficult to compare both of them. First of all you need to give us the details of what exactly are you looking into the bike you are going to purchase... i.e. is it just plain commuting from point A to point B? Is it just bit of speed thrill from signal to signal? Touring or sports commmuting where you would prefer some power under your legs ?

      P220 is a brilliant bike for straight forward acceleration and top speed.. however, on corners i personally didn't find the bike very happy to lean.
      Plus, i do have personal reservations against pulsar's history of body rattling and other technical problems (P.S. only based on my friend's P180's ownership experience.. so guys please don't stick your guns on me!!)

      FZ is a different animal altogether. Have owned it for the last 3 months, 4000+kms odo and loving it. This bike just loves to lean, eat corners at great speeds providing great amount of confidence to the rider thanks to the rear fat tyre. This bike also has a great amount of low end torque.. so you can continue riding your bike at 25kmph on 5th gear!! A great boon for me atleast when tackling heavy traffic in morning hours. from 0-80 kmph you will have a blast riding this bike. However post 85+ the bike starts losing out its breath!!

      Fuel economy of FZ varies anywhere from 35-45 kmpl based on your riding skills and the condition of the bike.

      So if you are planning for exceptionally long highway rides, i would personally not recommend you FZ rather go for a higher end bike.

      If you don't have a budget crunch and would love to have a mini rocket... why not think about R15?? You can also do after market performance upgrade on this bike thanks to Joel sir's(Xbhp's R15 performance Guru ) initiative... see http://www.xbhp.com/talkies/pit-stop...e-goodies.html and http://www.xbhp.com/talkies/pit-stop-general-biking-discussion/16121-r15-performance-ecu.html

        City Riding = FZ
        Free Open Highways = 220

        Handling = FZ
        Power = 220

          What are you upgrading from ?

          P220F - Torque will kick in from the very second you open the throttle and its lot of fun on the highway compared to say even a Zma which is more subtle. If you plan to do weekend highway only riding, then P220F probably will make the experience that more special but if you take a de-tour off the highway, I have personally felt the suspension to be hard and one can soon get a bit irritated with the overall ride quality, On the mileage front too it is in the 40+ kmpl which is more than or equal to FZ figures but do remember you get this at good highway speeds 90-110kmph. I havent said anything yet abt FZ because in terms of power its not even close to what P220 offers. P220F is a VFM at nearly 87k is one powerful machine.

          But if the bike will be your home-college/office-home bike, occasional touring , then FZ16 will fit the bill at a lower price of about 75k approx... The ride and handling at speeds < 80 is relatively better and inspires bit more confident attacking corners ( but if you a good at riding, P220 can sure leave FZ behind because there is grunt left above 80kmph). If u are a Beginner then go for FZ16/fazer, its gonna be lots of fun and a great riding experience on it with better quality, ride and overall build. Mileage not so different from P220 if not less.

          Overall both bikes will make ur everyday ride special, FZ u will have more fun in the city and might be get a bit boring on the highway..... P220 might be a little tiring in the stop-go traffic but once u find a stretch of open roads, U will be ahead of the rest soon (but pity that u wont be able to see them in ur RVM, not becoz P220 is blistering fast, Just becoz those RVM are just useless. )

          If its looks, its your taste 100% ...

          You will have fun with whatever u buy for sure , no doubt in that between these two machines....
          Always wear a helmet and invest in some good protective gear as soon as decide to head to those open roads
