  • Prep bike for an sbk...

Hey guys, I'm pretty much a newbie on 2 wheels. I plan on buying a Hayabusa in 2011 but before that I want to pick up a second-hand "normal" bike to get the feel of riding around the city and generally put some miles under my belt for a few months. I will also keep the bike around as a city runabout for those times when it's impractical to take an sbk out (zipping around Bandra gullies etc.) Also, it would help if it had a decent amount of pillion comfort. I've kept 70-80 as my budget because I don't want to spend too much on what will essentially be a "haath saaf" bike. The rides I've considered so far:

    1. R15 - Been using my cousins' R15 for the last couple of weeks and it's been great as a prepper bike. Only downer is that with a pillion, it's a pain after a while.

    2. Bullet Thunderbird - Comfortable and some feel it will give me an idea of the weight an sbk lugs around. But doesn't really give the same dynamic feeling.

    3. Bullet Machismo 500 - Same as above, nice torque but hard to find and invariably overpriced.

    4. Karizma - Not had a chance to ride so feedback would be much appreciated.

    5. P220 - Same as Karizma. I'd love to hear inputs.

    6. Apache 180 - Not ridden. Not sure if it's got the same punch as the others.

I'd greatly appreciate any advice on how to go about picking the right bike. I could have gone directly to the Busa but I've seen what sbks can do to presumptuous riders and I want to go about owning one the right way and with the right experience.

    Thanks for reading.

Well you should go through the post by the SBK owners here on Xbhp.
Most of them have switched to SBK's from Pulsars,ZMA's
