  • Yamaha FZS or Bajaj Pulsar 180

    Hello Guys,

I am going to buy a new bike next month, but i am confused between Yamaha FZS and Bajaj Pulsar 180. I have read the old thread of FZ16 and Pulsar180, but still i can't decide. Please suggest me again.
I am going to ride the bike only in city. I already have TVS Apache RTR 160, so don't suggest TVS bikes. I am not going to sell Apache. Apache is very noisy and vibrates at high speeds.

    Thanks in Advance.

depends on what exactly are you looking for...

Butter smooth gear, Refined engine, Handling and flickability in traffic and corners, low end grunt and fast acceleration till 60 - 75 kms = FZ16/FZ-S. But if you go for it, donot expect high mileage figures. you will get anywhere between 35-45 kmpl based on your rev happy right hand.

Pulsar's have a much refined engine now since, their inception however, i am still not a big fan of them. However, pulsar owners in this site can probably give you a better idea.

Apache is good enough in city.. why do you want another bike just for city riding? May be you can get a scooter instead.. that would be better.

Anyways.. just for city riding.. FZ-S is good enough.

the Fz-s it is mate.... if u want a bike that rides well, good enough torque to handle the city... you like flicking the bike around the city, overtaking, Fat ass rear wheels, the best grip in its class and the best handling around corners and considering looks too... the FZ is the bike to go for mate. oh and also compared to the pulsar has a better paint job and will guarantee no rattles and squeaky noises even after 2 years.
WHo says you need a woman to feel what a ride is like???... get a bike instead!!! ***Honda Hornet**

If it's for city riding mainly, I don't think a P180 would rate higher than an FZ.

Otherwise, on almost all other counts apart from maintenance hassles, the P180 is a better deal. But then again, always be wary that owners would tend to be slightly biased to their bikes.

I have a P180 UG4 which has done 4000kms and am happy with my bike. I had some issues with my carb but thats because i went all OCD when it was new and fiddled with the AFR. After the second service, the bike really is a breeze. The stability and the propensity to ride a straight line is much better than any other bike i've ridden and possibly at par with an FZ (havent ridden it but the bike just looks brilliantly stable). Also the power feeling is just amazing on this bike. Where it gives more bang for your buck is in the mileage, cheaper spares and sheer power.

If you've been a biker for long and dont mind owning a bike that needs to be cared for slightly more than the Japanese makes, go for the P180. But if you want something that'll last easily for many years without much care, go for something thats made by Yamaha or Honda.

Also, as I said, for any town that has narrow streets and frequent traffic, the FZ would probably be easier to ride. BTW, you dont have other bikes like the Dazzler in your shortlist?

Fz-s will be a better choice bcoz pulsar 180 is not a best handler in city but pulsar more powerful and fast accelarating bike but you cannot go through city with a full throttle in a pulsar bcos it is not flickable and mileage is better in p180 but lacks reliability.i am a proud p220 owner it doest gived me any problems but who knows what's waiting for me next
