Is there a reason why everyone on xbhp advertises ZMA (other than that maybe they own one ). Isn't the P220 a better/newer product with FI, tubeless tyres, slightly more power and just as comfortable?
I haven't owed either of the bikes hence the questions.

Look again.Everyone didn't suggested Karizma.I suggested Pulsar 200(According to the requirement its the best bike).Inder mentioned about Pulsar 220 and Karizma while others mentioned about Bullets as second choice.

ZMA all the way, cruiser as well as a tourer tool.
Bull just missed it due to the reliability factor

I too agree to the fact that "U will see that there are a lot of 100cc bikes at those terrains as mentioned"...!!!

So, that explains that those(100cc bikes) mostly belong to the local lads there which they use for daily commuting between the neasrby areas.....but it cant be taken with the prime motive of Touring...

So, as per the topic we are discussing abt the touring bike....

Dude...!! you are kindda new here.....

No one here is advertising ZMA here on xBhp....i had mentioned both ZMA and the P220 as tourers(if you could look at the post again... )

All people here speak out of their experiences!!

seriously looking at the Bullet - the new Classic looks awsome - so on Weds I fly to Delhi and intend to buy one most likely second hand to explore on. Is there anyone in Delhi who would be kind enough to help me secure a good bike or even a bed for a few nights while I get sorted?

I would really appreciate ether or both!

Glad that you found the suggestion of a Brit bike acceptable.
Hopefully, you will land yourself a used Bullet electra 5s/4s, machismo, one with a disc! But the only plentiful used ones are std 350s and thunderbirds(avl engine and disc)!
Good luck, do keep us posted on your travel itinerary, will hopefully meet you in the course of your tour.

Wait for the Ninja 250 by Bajaj ... Well, I know it's doubtful ...

but then, Bajaj is "considering" it seriously as evident from Staff interviews ...

If you can't wait, go for Karizma ... Even Bike India admits that it is the Best Tourer of this country ... even better than Bullets overall ...

                            Silver Bullet

Well it was a distinct probability but I went for the thumper in the end. Got it from another traveller at I hope a fair price (depending on whats wrong with it).

                            My rough plan is:
1 Nov leave Delhi heading North to Thanesar
few days later ether go to Armistar or the Hill stations (and then vice versa)
                            maybe across to Nepal
                            back to India anf Varansi
                            Agra
                            Jaipur
                            Pushkar
                            Udaipr
then coastal route down to the south
Pune, Goa, Bangalore etc for Xmas

But this is all subject to change especially if any of you dudes fancy an English geezer visiting for a night or two. I really find spending time with some one local in the smaller towns and villages gives me so much more of an insight into the country than been just another tourist passing through another big city looking at another tourist hot spot.

I'll be posting my thoughts and daily events here: www.rtw.prexpressions.com if anyone is interested! And from there you can find a link to my photos and the Silver Bullet!

we ,Indians got only small machines ,no litre bike(although R1 ,MT-01 available).220cc is this karizma got .17hp or 20hp is maximum.nothing more than that.no real cruiser.only bullet is there which too is ofcourse ,under powered.bullet classic is not for india as of now.
with bullet ,carry a clutch ,brake cable ,spark plug enough for a 600kms trip(atleast as per my bulleteer friend here!).

I think @prexpressions : you should look out to hire something powerful like RD350 ?
