  • Please suggest a bike within 9 lacs!

Hi everybody, My name is Rohit and I am from Pune.

I recently got a nice promotion and am looking for a bike!
I don't have much riding experience and want a bike which is easy to ride
in the cities and on long trips!
Also, I am 6 feet tall
I have an approximate budget of 8-9 lacs and am looking to buy in Feb.
But if there are better bikes coming later, I have no issues in waiting!

Here are some of the bikes I have shortlisted

    1) Ducati Monster 796
    2) Yamaha FZ1
    3) Hyosung GT650
    4) Harley Davidson Iron 883

Also, being in Pune, one of my biggest concerns is the maintenance!
For example, when I spoke to the Ducati person, they said they will send somebody from Mumbai to Pune to service the vehicle! Won't that be inconvenient!!!

If anyone has other suggestions, please put them forward!
    Thanks a lot for helping!

    What bike query approved.

did you think about Honda CB1000R? little above your budget.

also most of the superbikes showroom are in Mumbai only, so the servicing would be a little problematic, but if they can send their guys to service your bike, it should be okay.

I think you can safely go for SUZUKI Bandit 1250 S...it comes within your Budget and is comfortable & Fast as well

The HD is the ONLY bike that will be available 'in hand' in that budget

            Go for Bandit or CB1000R

All others are too small(BHP wise)

Checked out your profile. Says there that you prefer cruisers. Therefore, pick up an HD.

Suzuki Bandit 1250 will fit your budget onroad should be around 9 - 9.5 lacs. Its a good tourer, has a good grunt and can do 200kmph+ unless you have a thing for SBKs.

                        harley

I wish one day I get such a nice promotion
If I were at your place i would go for Harley.

One question : In which industry you guys work to afford such bikes !!

                          hey guys
thanks a lot for the advice!!

well to answer some of your questions, i work in the real estate industry!
now, regarding the point of low ground clearance
Have any of you ever driven in Pune? the roads aren't that bad but sometimes one ditch can really hurt the vehicle!! so do all of you think that HD will be very uncomfortable because of its low gc!
also as mentioned, i liked cruisers but even a street bike will do good!

i spoke to them regarding servicing and they said they will come to pune and "service" the bike!!

the "what bike" section really helps to locate a bike under a certain budget but doesn't exactly tell me hands on experience of members in the community!
Especially for riding in conditions of PUNE(where traffic is a BIG mess!!!)

and i may not have mentioned this earlier, but i ain't a regular rider! i am almost an amateur as far as riding is concerned!! so from that angle also, i need to see which bike will be easier to ride in the cities and on long drives!!

Thanks once again for all the help!!
                          Awaiting everyones reply!!

check out suzuki bandit. just one draw back poor looks. thats the perfect bike in all other aspects. The fact that you can put in ordinary petrol in the bike is a major plus for the bike while riding in india. check out the suzuki site / XBHP magazine first issue.

Rohit'Jee , Buy a bike for 40k Rupees and put the rest in bank . Get your riding experience on it , in your city conditions . After say six months , just go buy your dream bike . You'll never have to ask which one would be best for you , ever .
plz forgive me , I do give people totally bad advice sometimes .
