RX135 5 speed has significant differences in its ports sizes vis-a-vis the RX135 4 speed. Therefore, it makes more power (no paper its 14bhp), the RX135 4 speed came after the RX135 5 speed in response to demands for better average and a perception that people wanted a bike just like RX100 hence, the 4 speed. It was also detuned for attempts to get more fuel efficiency.

In my opinion, the 5 speed is a necessity. The 5 speed is good base on which further improvements can be carried out.

Sajan - Please let me know if you want performance bike or a mileage bike. RX135 and mileage don't go together.

          @Sajan,

please let us know what is your need exactly. are you plannig to go for performance modification or it will be for daily use or touring.
if you are aiming for city use only, go for RXG or 4S. it will give you nice initial and mid range with offordable milage.
as per my 'limited' knowledge gear ratio of top gears in 4s and 5s are same.
i request seniors to correct me if i am wrong as i am new to two strokes.

              Hi Sajan,

I owned RX135 4 speed for more than 2 yrs. Its definitely powerful, but mileage depends on how you ride. If you ride at 50 -60 km speed without much variations it would give 40~ kmpl otherwise mileage drops to 30~kmpl (no clue about 5 speed ) . Once you start ur RX, it just takes you through the wind and you will reach 100 in no time that's the beauty of RX...
I still regret for selling it

              All the best.

Hello, I owned Yamaha Rx100 as well as Yamaha Rx135 4 speed. My rx100 is in stock condition and I am satisfied and thrilled with its performance.

But friends my first ever owned bike is Rx135 4 speed, 1999 model. Which is not in stock condition and requires repairs regarding piston or crank I don't know. But with this problem also I have used it on regular basis for nearly 6 months period with its engines unwanted sound.

My concern is that I am not able to find out what is the appreciable aspect of this bike. May be due to malfunctioning engine is not revealing me what is this bike's most praised feature.

So, those who own this 4speed Yamaha Rx135, please tell me where to pay attention to understand unique performance of the bike. Please friends educate me on this issue.
I acknowledge that this bike is among highly respected and wanted bikes category among Indian youth, especially those who know for what Rx series stands for. I do respect to my 135 4Speed.

But I wanna enjoy riding it with recognizing its features. e.g. When I ride my rx100 after pulling my throttle for little more at any gear level bikes get amazing power in it, and that particular feeling which rx100 gives me I really enjoy.

Here with I am attaching two pics of my bike first pic with old seat which I replaced with new seat as shown in second pic.

Re: YAMAHA RX 135 4 speed or 5 speed.

My friend, RX 135 4 speed was launched around 1998 in India. It paved way for RX 135 5 Speed which was launched in 2000.
In parallel another version of RX 135 4 speed was launched in 2004 which had a mini-cat con, dual meters, a different headlight and other cosmetic changes.

                  ----consecutive posts auto-merged-----

If you want to feel the RX thrills - ride an RX 100 or the RX 135 5 Speed.
RXG and RX 135 4 Speed suck and you are rightly muffled and confused as to what is its best feature. These were experiments by Yamaha to provide a better version of the 100 after pollution norms came into play.
Yamaha finally succeeded with the 135 5 Speed, which is having same properties as RX 100 but with more power and aura. It is a beastlier version of the RX 100.
"When I ride my rx100 after pulling my throttle for little more at any gear level bikes get amazing power in it, and that particular feeling which rx100 gives me I really enjoy." - Nothing beats the 100 in linear pick-up, but then try riding an RX 135 5 Speed. You will Enjoy triple.
                  Thanks.
                  A Farhat

Just what is it that you are trying to convey here? How does any of this have anything to do with with what I have mentioned in my post? By the way, I have had 2 RX100s which were upgraded to RXS 100 specs (which by the way was a 5 speed spec sold in UK) and a RXZ 135 5 speed with a specially ported cylinder by Stan Stephens along with a TM 24 carb and a port matched expansion chamber.
