I strongly disagree to this!!! Either who said this is not an owner of RE or does not know the FACT!!! The modern UCE is much reliable & most niggling issues from their very first models have been addressed to certain extent. If you've any questions, then PM TARC in this forum, who has done more than 22K in an year in his C5. He knows to straighten issues from fact!!!Originally posted by staid rider View Postthe fact that they are sometimes unreliableSkill is what keeps you on a Motorcycle

like i said, i am not too keen on p220/zmr/fazer/fz16... i think they are all good bikes, but not for me!Originally posted by princesirohi View PostRE 350 is a good choice and so is avenger. although there are others like P220 or ZMR...
actually i had cd dawn/deluxe and crux in mind. somehow, after all these years i want something a bit more heavier and classier?Originally posted by kkrk2 View PostI dont know why everyone missed it - Yamaha Crux, beats the splendor in Retro look:
I wanted to suggest Suzuki Heat, unfortunately its not in production!!enjoy the slowness

Durability : If maintained well it will run till your grandson learns biking (may be after that too if kept on good hands)Originally posted by staid rider View Posti guess you are right about the weight issues. what is it about the maintenance? i keep hearing so many conflicting stories about it. i am quite confident about its durability. i think RE makes very durable bikes. how about reliability? i am not much of a bike person; don't know of parts and their workings. so i am always a bit skeptical about it stopping mid way.
Reliability : It's completely reliable
Stopping Midway : Mostly your clutch may get worse under sharp gearing but then to change the clutch is not a difficult job if seen once you could do it yourself

- since you don't like the styling of modern bikes. and
- i suggest any bike less than 150 CC is not practically suitable for long rides or too many highway runs......for obvious reasons..

For long rides ZMR or ZMA from Hero Honda stable has been the choice for many tourers.... though Fuel economy will be in the range of 36-40+ kmpl.
But please do check the availability of spares and parts in your area.
FZ16 / FAZER are good bikes but post 85-90 kmph they lose their breath on the highway...
Splendor no no for long distance touring as going to 100+kmph is something i don't think is possible on that bike nor would recommend one to try with those skinny tires.A quote by a toilet, " use me well, keep me clean, i would never tell anybody whatever i have seen.." :P

i guess i will just drive my friends 350 a bit to get the feel of it
you have put it very well... will test drive the re350 and avenger over the next couple of days... and report hereOriginally posted by princesirohi View Post- since you don't like the styling of modern bikes. and

considering above 2 constraints......only RE350 and Avenger remains....so you can choose any one....both are good bikes...and both have merits and demerits....

Welcome on board
As many others have suggested, go for Standard UCE / or Electra which is readily available at RE, do not go for a used UCE / AVL models. These modern RE Bikes are easy to maintain and still have the killer Classic looks
Edit - Dont test ride a CI 350 and come to a conclusion, there is a huge difference between a UCE & CI, visit a showroom, test ride a UCE Standard / Electra, those bikes would perfectly fit in for you.
Am sure you are not much inclined to the weight and the Thump, hence you can go for any of the UCE RE'sLast edited by rameshmadhavan; 02-10-2011, 12:28 PM.Never Give up on something that you can't go a day without thinking about.

being a HH driver for so many years, i have no doubt about the less worry more riding fun part. its the looks of the bike that i dont particularly like. i am on the lookout for a bike with few simple lines.Originally posted by Pinaki View PostZMR/ZMA-R , less worry , more riding fun .

Consider a Unicorn. Really refined, reliable 150 cc. Good mileage and comfort. Excellent chasis and i guess you are a Honda person.Originally posted by staid rider View Postbeing a HH driver for so many years, i have no doubt about the less worry more riding fun part. its the looks of the bike that i dont particularly like. i am on the lookout for a bike with few simple lines.sigpic
