  • 1 Yr old Suzuki GS150R - 8000 KM done - Need suggestion

    Hi All,

A guy is selling his suzuki GS150R. I want to buy it and need immediate suggestion otherwise the owner might sell to others.

    Bike: Suzuki GS150R
    Model : Mar 2010
    Price that time : 66-67K
KMs done : 8000 KM approx
    Condition: Good
Mileage : Approx 55 kmpl as stated by owner.

The owner is asking for 53,000/-

Is it ok ? Or should it be lesser ?

    Kindly reply ASAP.

What's the current price of the bike? Where are you located? Ask yourself, is saving 12-13 thousand is big enough for you. If the owner is a close friend and you have seen the caring of bike, then OK, but if not, then see why he is selling it. For any second hand deal, the story has to be good

GS150R is a capable bike, and while I may not be able to pinpoint the price, you can be sure of its quality.

        Hi,

The current price is approx 69 K in Trivandrum, kerala. But the owner bought for 66-67 K since last year that was the price. Suzuki in nov-dec increased the price by 500/-

The owner is not my friend. Got the link through a local website. He is using car for commuting. He told his brother was using the bike & 2 weeks ago he went to Dubai. Hence no use of bike to him since he is using car. Our offices are close so I talked to him in person. He told me that I can take the bike for test ride & check the mileage myself if I have any doubt.

But overall, does the 53K price tag justifies or I should quote less ?

        Kindly pour your suggestions.

          Hi ,,

Suzuki is a nice bike and it do give 55 to 60 as do i have the same bike

but if it a 2009 model than it may have some serious issues like

          tank rust and engine knocking...

I think 53 is too much for a bike clocked 8000 and than its suzuki

if it was HH then it may be ok

Please check the tank mouth you may find the rust

and also take a mechanic to check the complete bike

The price may be from 40k to 46 not more than that....

          Thanks
          sigpic

Take it, but reduce the price to 50K or even lesser. Suzuki does not have good resale.

I feel 50k for a well maintained less run GS150R is a good deal.

                  50 K should be ok.

Check the service record first . Ask for service book . If he did all service in correct time then you will be eligible for warranty . Then it will be a peace of mind . Else you will not be able to claim warranty for the engine /parts.

If the bike was having descent run in and maintained well it will give you above 50 mileage . Two of my friends are having the bike and till date it is working perfectly fine and giving good above 50 mileage . (one of them crossed 20K mark still running as good as new ) .

But 50k price is too high for a suzuki second hand bike .
If you get it for around 45 K (max) it is a good deal .

The GS150R, though a nice bike, does not have much resale value. Get it checked by a mechanic and if all is well, The max. you can get it for shouldn't exceed 45k. Anything more than that, you are well of spending the extra 10-15k and getting a new bike and complete peace of mind comes for free.

Check the tires as they could have signs of wearing out then that would cost u more 2k.Check batteries, tank for rust. Ask him if u could keep the bike with u for like 2 days or something so that u get a better idea. The main problem with 2nd hand is whether the run-in has been done properly, if the guy seems like he knows well about bikes then its ok or else if he seems like a hooligan then the engine may have suffered some serious damage which could hurt you.

Personally i would not buy a second hand just because of the run-in question mark. But if u still want to go ahead then get it down to 50k.
The advantage of buying a 2nd hand is u will not have huge responsibility of maintaining it with utmost care atleast for the 1st few months
and don't worry he might just be pressuring u to get a good deal, i don't think there will be many takers for 2nd hand GS at 53k :P

Suzuki GS-150r is a good bike but it does not have that type of resale value in market.
First of all ride the bike w/o helmet somewhere where noise is less and try to figure any kind of noise coming from bike.(you can take mechanic or a friend who is riding bikes for quite sometime)

Watch the bike closely-tires, tanks, gauges, portion under the seat, battery.
Try to check his service book.

and if all right go for it,
as the bike is already one year old the market value of bike is decreased itself by 40-50%

So start around 42-43k and go max to 46k not more than that,
and if you really want to spend 53k then add 2k more and buy a new pulsar 135ls, that bike can blew away the gs-150r easily.
Pick up a ride and rewrite yourself to a new Identity.....
